By late that night, Seraphina had secured signed agreements, letters of understanding, and statements from

everyone.

Those thin sheets of paper, which had cost her one hundred million to acquire, would prove to be invaluable.

The next day, Seraphina dialed Augustus‘ number.

“I’ve secured all the settlement agreements. Let’s arrange a time to meet,” she said calmly.

Augustus paused, his mind racing to process the news. It had only been one day, and she had already handled everything.

“Really?” he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.

He had said the same thing before. Could it be possible that someone could actually get Rowan out of prison so quickly? It didn’t seem likely.

“You don’t need to know who it is,” Augustus replied sharply.

“Augustus, don’t let yourself be deceived. It’s not that simple,” Chloe warned. She had gone to great lengths to resolve the issue, so why would someone else be able to handle it so easily?

“Humph,” Augustus sneered. “Whether it’s a scam or not, we’ll know in a month. I don’t have time to argue with you. Rowan doesn’t need your help. Just give me that money. If you don’t, you know the consequences.”

With that, he abruptly ended the call.

Chloe seethed with frustration. The millions she had mentioned had been a mere bluff, intended to show him the effort she had put into the matter. Yet, it seemed he had no appreciation for her efforts at all.
