Ryan’s pov
As soon as the cameras move off me and Kimberly 1 rip away from her like she was some sort of poison. Her eyes saddened but I brush it off as I storm into the house.
This was all for fucking show and I hated every second of it. Acting like I was in love with Kimberly was nauseating. Especially when all I can think about is Evie.
Evie…..
After I had demanded her father to let me see the recording of that night, it showed she was the one who willingly got out of her room with a bag on her back. She had obviously wanted to run away after what happened last night.
However, there were warriors out in the woods. If they wanted to stop her, they would. They let her. And none notified me that she was running away. I had a feeling they notified father though and I knew he told them to let her go..
Although when I confronted him about it he said he told the warriors to get her back but she tried to kill them. She fought them off. That made no sense obviously because my Evie wouldn’t harm anyone. Hell, she didn’t even have a wolf to begin with. So fighting them off was near impossible.
They let her escape. They wanted her gone and out of the pack because father knew deep in his soul, I’d never stay away from her. He also knew that once I turn alpha I’d have more power than him. So much power that I’d want Evie by my side and not Kimberly and then he’d have no say.
I slammed the door behind me, brushing my hand through my hair aggressively as my mind races with possible places she could be.
She must be so terrified and alone. My Evie.
“Ryan!” Kimberly’s screeching voice comes behind me the second she opens the door, heels clicking loudly as she storms over to me. I let out an irritated breath, not in the mood to deal with her right now.
My shoulders tense as she draws near. Her scent was so damn suffocating. It irked my nose. “What!” I snapped. I had more important matters to attend to. The most important one being Evie.
“You walking off like that made me look stupid!” Kimberly says sharply like I give a damn.
I turn on her then, irritation storming tight in my chest. “You look like that every second of the day Kimberly,” I say flatly. “Leaving you behind made no difference.”
Her eyes flash. “You asshole! We were on TV! What if they saw? What if the reporter let everyone know how you acted out there?”
* “And?” I snap. “Do I look like I care about what the reporter has to say? The acting I did there ended the second
the cameras shifted. I’m not one to keep the facade going on for too long.”
Kimberly’s mouth falls open in disbelief, eyes glaring at me, “I’m your fiancé Ryan. Your mate.”
“No,” I correct coldly. “You’re my father’s chosen mate for me. The one they think can rule the pack beside me properly. But I think it was a mistake.”
The words land hard. I see them hit her, see the way her fingers curl into fists at her sides. For a moment she looks like she might cry but then her spine straightens and that damn familiar entitled edge slides right back into her
tone.

“You’ve been acting like an asshole since she ran away,” she says. “So much for not caring about Evie,” she traces the mark I gave her last night. “You chose me to be your Luna, remember?”
Her name makes my heart skip. I hated that I had to be reminded of last night. What I had with Evie was beautiful but what happened after was a disaster I wish never occurred.
I turn around to head for the door and Kimberly looks at me with furrowed confused brows. “I’ll drop you off at your house,” I mutter. “I need space Kimberly,”
Her brows knit together even more, causing a crease between them. “Space?”
“Yes. Space. Are you deaf?” I snapped, already heading for the door.” This I gesture vaguely between me and her. “-isn’t real and it doesn’t mean you can be in my presence whenever you want.”
I reach for the handle.
“Ryan.” Her voice sharpens. “Don’t forget I can tell your father what happened last night with Evie-
That name again. She had no right to say her name with such disdain.
My hand tightens on the door, claws threatening to break through my skin. I turn my head just enough to glare at her smug face. It instantly drops when she sees my expression. “What would it matter if you did now!” I sneer dangerously. “She’s already gone!”
Before she can fire back, the door opens from the other side. Mother stands there, perfectly composed in a white dress with her hair pinned neatly back in a bun. She studies Kimberly and I for a bit before she masks her emotions. She steps into the room fully.
“Ryan,” she says gently. “There you are.”
She was also in on whatever game father was playing. The two I looked up to the most have now betrayed me in ways I didn’t think possible.
“Mother,” I grit out.
Her gaze shifts to Kimberly and softens instantly. ” My dear,” she says, stepping fully into the room. You did wonderfully out there. The packs are already sending their congratulations. You two make a lovely couple.”
Kimberly flushes under the praise, looking as giddy as ever. I feel vexed and nauseated. “Thank you luna.”
Her words make my jaw tighten.
Mother turns back to me, her expression turning back emotionless but I saw the quick guilt that flashed in her eyes before she could conceal it.” I was just about to come find you. There’s something we need to discuss.”
“Whatever it is can wait,” I say curtly. “I was taking Kimberly back to her house.”
Mother’s waves a hand. “That won’t be necessary.”
Something cold settles in my stomach deeply. What the hell was she on about? What did she and father have up their sleeves now? “What do you mean?”
She lightly lifts her shoulder in a shrug.” Since the announcement has been made and the bond has been publicly acknowledged, it wouldn’t look appropriate for you two to sleep separately anymore.”
I stare at her. “No,” I stated coldly.
Kimberly’s eyes widen then they gleam with happiness. “Stay here with him?”

Mother nods, looking pleased with herself. ” In Ryan’s room. Starting tonight.”
