The Alpha Who Never Loved Me (Serena and Kieran) novel Chapter 127

Chapter 127

Serena

I turned to walk away. I would not stand on a sidewalk and trade insults with two women in front of a cafe

window.

The strange woman shifted to block my path.

“Where are you going? Off to meet the man who got you pregnant?”

I stopped. I looked at her, confused. “Excuse me?”

“You heard me.” Her chin lifted. “You walk around the city carrying another man’s baby while still parading yourself as the Luna of Crimson Pack. You are an embarrassment to every woman in this country, Dr. Thawthorne, and the fact that you have the audacity to look me in the eye right now-

“Sophie.” My voice was even. “Get your friend out of my business. Now.”

Sophie laughed. “My friend is not wrong, Seren You 3:16 should hear what she has been saving about you. The

whole pack has been saying it. You have made a fool of my Kieran. You invited me to that party so the entire room could watch me fail in front of him. I know what you were doing. I am not as stupid as you think.”

I let out a short breath. So this was the version of events Sophie had decided to go with.

“I invited you to that party because I wanted to give you a chance, Sophie. The fact that you could not seduce my husband when he was drugged and alone in a private room is your failure, not mine.”

The strange woman gasped.

“How dare you speak to her that way? You forced Kieran to choose you as his chosen mate. You used that bond to trap him. You stole him from her. The fact that he refused. to sleep with her at that party is because of the chains you put on him, not because he stopped loving her.”

I turned to her. My voice stayed quiet. “And you. Who are you, exactly?”

“I am-”

“Stop talking to me. Whoever you are. Stop.”

The cafe door opened behind me and Andrew stepped

out.

His face went from concern to recognition to amusement in the space of three seconds. He looked at me, looked at the two women, looked back at me.

“Serena. What is happening here?” He asked simply.

I let out a breath and walked to him to stand by his side.

“Nothing,” I said. “These two were just leaving.”

The strange woman’s eyes shifted to Andrew. Her face changed, the hostility eased into something else, something careful.

“Oh,” she said. “Is this the man who got you pregnant, Serena? Did we just walk in on something?”

Andrew’s brow rose.

“Excuse me?” His voice was clipped. “Who are you, exactly?”

Jam Fiona Maguirre. Of the Maguirre family. Bluemoon

Pack.”

Andrew studied her face for a long moment. The amusement returned to his.

“Bluemoon Pack.” His voice held a slow, surgical politeness. “I know that family. I know it well, in fact. The Maguirre family has two children, both of them sons. I have met both but I am unaware of any daughter.”

Fiona’s face did not move. “I am the daughter,” she said.

“From whom, exactly?”

She did not answer.

“Ah,” Andrew said. “I see. From the alpha’s other woman. You are an illegitimate child. That explains why your name does not appear in any pack record, and why your behavior on a public sidewalk is precisely what one would expect of a young woman who was raised without proper supervision.”

Fiona’s face went pink.

Andrew was not finished.

“I have heard your name in the kind of conversations one hears in pack circles, Fiona. The kind of conversations that involve the words ’embarrassment’ and ‘liability.’ Your father is doing his best to keep your existence quiet, I understand. And here you are, in public, harassing my doctor on a sidewalk, while claiming pack membership you do not legally hold. This will not reflect well on him.”

Fiona’s mouth opened. Nothing came out.

“Well then.” Andrew turned to them. “Now, if you would both excuse us. Dr. Thawthorne and I have a breakfast to

attend.”

He took my arm and led me into the cafe.

The door closed behind us.

I let out a long breath. My shoulders dropped half an

inch.

“Andrew. Thank you.”

“You are welcome.” His face was warm. “I have wanted to do that to a Maguirre for years. You have given me a delightful morning.

I smiled, we talked about his treatment.

The illness was the same condition I had managed for him during my time abroad, an autoimmune flare that responded well to a specific combination of pack-healer techniques and modern medicine.

The protocol I designed for him last year still worked, but the dosages would need adjusting because the disease had progressed.

“Where are you staying?” I asked.

“A hotel. I have not been in this city long enough to find a place.” He said casually.

“You should find one. The treatment works best with continuity. If I can come to you twice a week, the recovery

will be faster.”

“Well then, I can just come live with you.” He suggested, flashing a smile that told me he was probably joking.

He had to be joking.

With that in mind, I gave no answer, acting like I had not

heard him.

He tsked before saying, begrudgingly: “I am looking. I have two viewings tomorrow.”

“Two days.”

“Two days?” He lifted his eyebrows in confusion.

“Find a place by then. I will start the treatment as soon as you have a permanent address.”

He smiled. “Done.”

We finished breakfast. He walked me to the cafe entrance.

“Serena.”

I paused.

“If those two women come back, you call me. I will handle it. I am sure my contact list still has the Maguirre alpha’s private number, and I would relish the opportunity to use

it.”

I laughed. “I will keep that in mind.”

I left him at the door and walked back to the hospital.

The day went smoothly.

Kieran came to the hospital by six to take me home..

I told him in the car that I wanted to see my parents. He did not argue. He turned the wheel toward the new house he bought for them.

His phone rang halfway through the drive.

He picked up then listened. I watched how his jaw slwoly tightened.

“I will be there in twenty minutes.” He ended the call.
