Chapter 95
He went still. His eyes searched my face and something behind them cracked; the anger drained and something softer took its place, something desperate and raw.
“I know you’re only saying this because you are angry with me.” His voice dropped to a murmur. “I know you want this baby to not be mine, and I understand why you’re angry.”
The words sat in my throat and burned; my eyes stung and my stomach turned and the baby shifted inside me, restless and aware of the tension that pressed against the walls of this room.
“This baby isn’t yours, why can you not accept the truth?” I asked. “This baby belongs to someone ele, not yours.”
His face went white; every trace of color vanished and his hands grabbed both my arms and his fingers dug in.
“Don’t say that.” His voice shook. “There’s no need for such lies. I want to talk to you, please.”
“I don’t want to talk to you.” I pulled against his grip; his8

love and maybe we can reach an agreement.”
His face darkened; his brow creased and his nostrils flared and his jaw locked so tight the muscle in his cheek twitched. “Why do you always have to drag someone else into our marriage?”
“Sophie isn’t someone else.” I held his gaze and my heart hammered but my voice did not break. “She’s the woman you love.”
“I don’t love Sophie.” His voice filled the room and bounced off the bare walls. “Why can’t you get that through your head? I don’t love her.”
“Even if you don’t love Sophie, she’s still the mother of your child.”
“No.” He took another step toward me; his chest pressed against mine and the heat of his body bled through the thin fabric of my dress and my skin burned everywhere we touched. “You are the mother of my child. Stop talking about Sophie.”
I pushed against his chest and created distance. “You can come from the most powerful pack on this earth and it 48 still doesn’t change the fact that you cheated during our

marriage.” Aina pressed against my ribs and pushed toward the bond and I pushed back; I refused to let my wolf betray me. “I don’t want anything to do with you anymore.”
He opened his mouth and I kept going.
“I came here because I wanted to have fun with the
people I care about.” I straightened my spine. “Show up in court. I want this divorce done.”
“Even though you’re pregnant.” His voice cracked and the crack split through the room. “You still want to divorce
me.”
“This baby isn’t yours, why can you not understand?” I pressed my hand against my belly; the baby shifted under my palm and Aina whimpered low inside me and the sound vibrated through my bones. “You cheated on me openly and nobody forced you to do it. I’m not going to sit down and accept it and I’m not going to stay with you.”
“Don’t you want to give our child a good life?”
“The baby isn’t yours!” I held his stare; he was choosing 3/5

words and not the ones I keep saying.
He reached for me, the truth still very far from him. “I don’t want a divorce.”
“You don’t get a choice.” I stepped back and his hand fell through empty air. “We will get a divorce.”
I turned and walked out of the room and down the corridor. The private room was warm when I pushed the door open; our friends looked up and their faces shifted.
“My ex-husband came and ruined the party,” I said. “I’m tired and I want to go home and rest. Thank you for tonight.”
They hugged me one by one and said their goodbyes and Jenna squeezed my hand and Trevor pressed a kiss to the top of my head and I thanked them and turned toward
the exit.
