Chapter 304
Chapter 304
Souchent
Ian sat on the couch, his face unreadable. His eyes were lowered, and his well-defined knuckles tapped lightly against the rim of his glass.
No one could tell what he was thinking.
He didn’t say a word, just let Andrea stand there in front of him, leaving everyone guessing about his thoughts.
The silence in the private room was suffocating, all because of Ian’s silence.
Andrea twisted her hands together, nervousness and guilt written all over her from start to finish.
After what felt like an eternity, Ian finally looked up and glanced at Andrea.
He asked, “Weren’t you going to explain? Are you mute now?”
Andrea visibly froze.
She hadn’t seen Ian for so long, and she never expected him to be so cold to her.
Andrea cast a nervous glance at Mitchell.
She looked at Ian and asked, “Ian, can I talk to you alone?”
Ian glanced at Mitchell.
He said to Andrea, “It’s fine. Just act like he’s not here.”
Mitchell took a few steps back and lowered his head.
Andrea stood in front of Ian, hands tightly clasped as she tried to hold herself together.
She’d gone through all kinds of trouble just to come back home and finally see Ian. She had to make this chance count.
Andrea steadied her nerves and carefully moved to stand directly in front of Ian.
Just as she was about to sit down next to him, Ian gave her a sharp look that made her instantly stand up
straight.
Andrea took two uncertain steps back, then crouched down beside the couch, looking up at lan, her posture small and submissive, almost begging.
As soon as Andrea started speaking, her eyes brimmed with tears, as she felt utterly wronged.
She asked Ian, “Ian, was it Edward who told you I took 20 million from him?”
Ian cut her off, his voice giving nothing away, “Just explain what you need to explain.”
Andrea kept her eyes locked on Ian, desperate to catch any hint of emotion from him.

Chapter 301
Andrea thought, ‘Shouldn’t he at least ask how I’ve been all these years?
‘Does he find out something?’
Andrea kept a couple of steps between them, but her anxiety overwhelmed her, and she suddenly fell to one knee on the floor.
She lifted her hand and swore, “Ian, I swear to God, it was Edward who threatened my family’s lives and forced me to take that money.”
Andrea continued, “It was Edward who forced me to go abroad and pushed me to marry someone else!”
Ian lit up a cigarette, then sprawled out on the couch, looking totally at ease.
He said, “No hurry. Just say whatever you need to say.”
Andrea got on her knees, her eyes full of hope, waiting for Ian to help her up. But when Ian didn’t move at all, she finally had to get up by herself.
Andrea rubbed her sore knees, feeling even more wronged, then hunkered down again in front of Ian.
She explained cautiously, “Ian, back then, Edward said if I didn’t leave you, he’d kick you out with nothing. He threatened my family’s lives and your future, so I was forced to walk away.
“I never spent a single cent of that money. As soon as I arrived in Thailand, my money was stolen. If you don’t believe me, I swear on my son’s life!”
When Ian still didn’t respond, Andrea stared at him in disbelief and asked, “Ian, I’ve already sworn on my son’s life. You still don’t trust me?”
Ian’s eyes were filled with pure disgust as he looked at Andrea.
Ian thought, ‘A mother, actually swearing on her own son’s life just to prove her innocence.
‘In my old life, I was taken in by her so-called sincerity.
Ian’s continued silence left Andrea feeling panicked and unsettled.
Suddenly, she stood up and shrugged off her coat.
She rolled up her sleeves, revealing the bruises and welts from the beatings on her arms for lan to see.
But Ian didn’t even spare her a glance.
Andrea’s nerves were shot, and guilt gnawed at her.
She broke down in tears, feeling totally crushed and helpless.
She dropped to one knee in front of lan and pleaded, “Ian, your grandfather did everything he could to break us up. He forced me to go abroad and marry someone else.
“All these years, I’ve been alone overseas, abused, mistreated, and forced to have a child. Every single day was hell. If I really had all that money, do you honestly think I’d end up like this?”

Seeing lan still silent, Andrea continued, “Even after all that, I never wanted to come back and mess up your life, or drag you down with me.
“I only came back because I was seriously depressed. I had nowhere else to go, I was desperate to survive!”
Andrea cried even harder, her voice shaking with desperation. “If I die, my kid will be an orphan. I’m a mom. I really had nowhere else to turn. That’s why I came back to you for help.”
Ian kept his gaze down, his face showing no emotion at all.
He’d heard these sob stories before, in his previous life.
Ian drawled, “So, how exactly do you want me to save you?”
Andrea hurriedly put her coat back on as soon as Ian finally responded.
She edged closer, trying again to sit next to him, but Ian shot her a warning look, and Mitchell quickly stopped her.
Andrea had no choice but to stand in front of Ian, looking wronged and pitiful.
She said, “Ian, after my family found out I came back with my kid, they wanted nothing to do with us. They wouldn’t let us come home.
“They blamed you for everything that’s happened to me, so they hit me and cursed me out. I really have nowhere else to go. That’s why I came to you for help.”
Andrea’s tears streamed down her face.
She said, “Ian, you know I’m not some materialistic woman. Just having a place to stay and get better is all I
want.”
Ian replied, “I’m busy. Just lay out all your requests at once so I know what I’m dealing with.”
Andrea broke down in tears of relief.
Andrea thought, ‘I know Ian still hasn’t moved on.
