Chapter 308
Chapter 308
As soon as Henry walked in, he handed Ian a small suitcase. “Mr. Hamilton, just a little something for you.
Ian didn’t even look at it. “I don’t accept gifts I haven’t earned. If you’ve got something to say, just spit it
out.”
Seeing Henry standing there awkwardly with the suitcase, Mitchell quickly handed him a cup of tea and took the “gift” off his hands.
Mitchel had no clue what was inside, but anything that made it all the way to Ian’s desk had to be worth a fortune.
Henry sat down across from Ian, awkwardly rubbing his palms together.
He said, a bit embarrassed, “Mr. Hamilton, I came here today to ask if you could go easy on Ms. Sherman.”
Ian gave him an intriguing look. “You’ve really gone out of your way for her. Seems like you two are pretty close.”
Henry forced a smile. “You’re kidding, Mr. Hamilton. I’m just doing this as a favor for a friend.”,
Ian didn’t press the issue.
Henry said, “My friend hired a lawyer for Ms. Sherman, and I looked into the case before coming here. She did let you down, Mr. Hamilton, but it’s not really enough for criminal charges.
“I hope you can show some leniency and help turn this big issue into a small one.”
Ian set his cup down, his expression unreadable. “If you say it’s not that serious, then we’ll do things by the book. I trust the law to be fair to anyone who’s done nothing wrong.”
Ian stood up.
Seeing Ian wasn’t having it, Henry got up, too.
Henry pulled out a twenty-million-dollar check, bent over, and placed it on the coffee table with both hands. “Mr. Hamilton, I’m returning this money for Ms. Sherman. We have to get along, so please, could you cut her some slack?”
Ian glanced at the check. “Do you think this is about money?”
Henry wiped the sweat from his forehead. “To show I’m serious, Quinn Enterprises is willing to give up that land on the east side of the city to you. Would that work for you, Mr. Hamilton?”
Ian said, “Since you’re so set on helping your friend, I’ll let it slide for your sake.”
Ian finally relented, and Henry visibly relaxed, relief washing over his face.
After Henry left, Mitchell asked, puzzled, “He just handed over a twenty-million-dollar check and even let go of that land on the east side of the city for his friend. Mr. Quinn sure is loyal to his buddies.”
lan just snorted in disdain.
Chapter 308
Back at his desk, Ian checked the weather forecast for Tecnovia on his phone. A cold snap was coming
tomorrow.
Chloe was probably swamped with work right now. Ian hesitated for a second, then shot her a text.
Every time he left Kingsford on business, Chloe would always be the first to message him.
She must have felt just like he did now, restlessly staring at her phone, waiting for his reply, unable to focus on anything else.
Even just hearing her voice, or exchanging a few words, felt like an impossible luxury now.
Ian sat at his desk in silence, that familiar ache quietly throbbing deep in his heart.
More than ten minutes went by, but there was still no reply from Chloe.
Unable to wait any longer, he sent her a voice message.
Ian: [It’s supposed to get colder in Tecnovia tomorrow. Did you bring enough warm clothes?]
After a long pause, he sent another message.
Ian: [I’m flying to Tecnovia for work tomorrow. Need me to bring you anything?]
Mitchell, standing nearby, was speechless at Ian’s behavior.
Mitchell wondered, ‘Hold up, our boss is flying to Tecnovia for business tomorrow?
‘Since when? Why am I always the last to know?’
It was around seven in the evening when Andrea was finally let out.
As soon as she got home, she couldn’t contain her excitement and blurted out to her family members, “Didn’t I say Ian would come through for me?”
Andrea turned to them, a little anxious, “Mom, Melody, did Ian leave you his number? Did he say anything
to me?”
Melody scoffed. “Seriously? Get real! Ian is the one who got you locked up in the first place. Didn’t Violet tell you?”
Andrea just stood there, completely stunned.
While she was in custody, the only person who ever showed up was a lawyer who said he was there on her family’s behalf to help with her case.
She never saw Violet, not even once.
Andrea stared at her mom, eyes wide with shock. “Mom, seriously, what the hell is going on?”

‘Even if lan knew I took that 20 million, he wouldn’t be cold enough to actually let me end up in jail, Andrea thought.
Laura groaned, slapping her leg in frustration. “Andrea, Ian has already figured out that your whole ‘saving him’ act was just a scheme cooked up by our family. He has even tracked down exactly where every cent of that 20 million went.
“If we hadn’t gotten Violet to bail us out in time, we’d all be rotting in jail by now!”
Andrea’s mind was blown, totally blank.
‘After all that plotting, all that work. He was onto me the whole time,’ she thought.
She stared at her family, completely freaking out. “What am I supposed to do now?”
Andrea thought, ‘No way I am ever going back to Tecnovia now.
‘I have just pissed off Ian big time.
‘Forget about getting back together or marrying into the Hamilton family./
‘If Ian doesn’t totally destroy me, I should be lighting incense and praying in thanks.’
Andrea suddenly jumped up from the couch, panic written all over her face.
She pointed accusingly at her mom, her brother, and Melody, demanding answers. “On the phone, didn’t you all say Ian was waiting for me?
“Didn’t you tell me he called off his engagement because of me?
“So why is everything such a mess now?”
The crowd was talking animatedly.
Melody rolled up her sleeves, looking ready to start a fight. “Yelling at us isn’t gonna change anything! We heard everything straight back then. How were we supposed to know that little bitch was lying to us?”
Xander stepped in to calm Andrea down. “Andrea, Melody is right. Ian and his fiancée must have planned this together.
“They had all the evidence lined up from the very beginning, and his fiancée fed us that fake story just to trick you into coming back, so they could take revenge on our family and get us all locked up.”
Laura jabbed a finger at Andrea. “Your brother and Melody were just looking out for you! It’s your own fault for not locking down lan when you had the chance,
“Now look at you. Ended up with nothing, all for nothing. If it weren’t for Violet stepping in, our whole family would be sitting in jail right now!”
