The Billion-Dollar Divorce (Ian and Chloe) novel Chapter 310

Chapter 310

Chapter 310

It was already the middle of the night when the plane landed.

Not wanting to disturb Chloe’s rest, Ian booked a room at Chloe’s hotel to get some rest.

Early the next morning, Ian showed up at Chloe’s door and knocked.

A hotel staff member who happened to be passing by reminded Ian that Chloe had already gone out early.

Ian’s usually calm gaze wavered, and a sudden, unexplainable panic gripped his heart.

At eight in the morning, Ian arrived at the hospital carrying a bag of local breakfast specialties, only to be told that Chloe had taken the day off.

As Ian walked out of the hospital, his frustration was plain for everyone to see.

He called Chloe, but she didn’t pick up.

He sent her a message, but there was still no reply.

Mitchell stepped forward cautiously. “Mr. Hamilton, should we head back?”

Ian shook his head. “Let’s go to the city center.”

From what he’d heard, Eric had just arrived yesterday, too.

Since Chloe wasn’t at work today, she was probably with Eric.

He’d arrived in such a hurry last night that he hadn’t brought Chloe anything.

Now that the weather was turning chilly, he needed to go shopping and get her something to keep her

warm.

Around ten in the morning, they were on the third floor of the city’s most luxurious shopping mall.

Mitchell followed behind his boss, hands full of shopping bags.

When lan made a beeline for a designer women’s clothing counter, Mitchell kept his mouth shut and didn’t dare say a word.

Mitchell couldn’t figure out what had gotten into his boss last night. He’d just flown up to Tecnovia in the middle of the night.

He hadn’t even seen Chloe, but here he was, buying half the mall for her.

Mitchell thought, ‘Who knew if he’d even get a chance to hand all this stuff over?’

More than an hour later,

Ian and Mitchell walked out of the mall, loaded down with bags from their shopping spree.

Just as they got to the car, Mitchell’s sharp eyes caught sight of Chloe. “Mr. Hamilton, that’s Ms. Irvine.”

Ian looked over in the direction Mitchell was pointing and spotted Chloe with Eric.

From the looks of it, they’d just come out of the mall, too, each holding bags.

Chloe was in high spirits, her eyes crinkling with laughter. “Eric, you’re always so busy. You really didn’t have to come all this way just to see me.”

Eric put the bags he was holding into the car’s trunk.

He gently brushed a dry leaf off Chloe’s shoulder. “With the talent you’ve shown in sleep disorders, you’re basically my Money God.

“I’m honestly worried someone else will try to poach you. I almost want to bring you home and keep you all to myself.”

Chloe laughed, a little embarrassed. “Eric, you’re the real money-maker here. I’m hoping to get rich just by sticking with you. Even if you don’t want me around, I’ll just shamelessly cling to you.”

Eric took the bags from Chloe and put them in the car. Then, seeing her shoelace had come undone, he crouched down to tie it for her.

Chloe felt a bit awkward and tried to pull her foot back. “It’s okay, Eric, I can do it myself.”

Eric stayed crouched in front of her. “You’ve got your drink in your hand, it’s a hassle. Let me help.”

Chloe thought Eric was really her lucky charm. “Eric, you should never tie a girl’s shoelaces. If your wife saw you doing that, she’d definitely get upset.”

That scene from her previous life. Ian got on one knee in front of Andrea, helping her try on shoes. It was burned into Chloe’s memory forever.

Eric stood up.

He looked at Chloe seriously. “If I really had a wife, I wouldn’t even tie your shoelaces for you. I wouldn’t want to break her heart for anything.”

Chloe was genuinely envious. “Whoever gets to be your wife is seriously the luckiest girl ever.”

Eric met her gaze, teasing, “So, want to try being Mrs. Jordan?”

Chloe blushed right away when Eric looked at her like that.

She joked to break the awkwardness, “I’m not bold enough to stir up trouble for you, Eric.”

Eric opened the car door for her. “Don’t be nervous, I’m just kidding. Let’s head back to the hotel and chill for a bit. I’ll let you meet someone tonight.”

Chloe self-consciously tucked her hair behind her ear, trying to hide how flushed her ears were.

Even if Eric claimed he was joking, Chloe could totally tell he was feeling her out. There was no way she’d miss such an obvious hint.

Chapter 310

She and Eric were both doctors, and every time they met, they never ran out of things to talk about.

Eric was honest, came from a good family, and was genuinely a great guy.

But right now, for Chloe, getting involved with men just couldn’t compare to focusing on her career.

She didn’t want to waste her time and energy on those vague, uncertain relationships.

Not far away, Ian just stood there, watching Chloe and Eric leave together, his grip tightening around the shopping bags without even realizing it.

Even though they were in a different country, Eric really went out of his way to look after her.

Ian thought, ‘Eric booked her a hotel right next to the hospital, and flew in just because the weather turned chilly so he could take her shopping. He doesn’t hesitate to crouch down and tie her shoelaces.

‘Even his little “confession” was half in jest, never putting any pressure on Chloe at all.

Seeing his boss looking so out of sorts, Mitchell quickly stepped up, took the bags from Ian, and loaded

them into the trunk.

Ian propped himself up with one hand on the car door, hunched over slightly, and a dull pain throbbed in

his chest.

He thought, ‘Even Eric, who’s never even dated anyone before, knows that once you have a girlfriend, you shouldn’t be tying shoelaces for other women. He knows that his wife is someone married to be treasured

and cared for.

‘But Chloe had been my wife for three years.

‘And yet, I have never cared about how she felt, and have hurt her over and over again.

‘I don’t deserve Chloe’s love.

‘I don’t deserve to be forgiven.

At two in the afternoon, Chloe had just returned to her hotel room.

A few hotel staff members showed up at her door, carrying dozens of shopping bags of all sizes.

The lead staff member said, “Ms. Irvine, Mr. Hamilton asked us to bring these to your room.”

Chloe couldn’t help but frown.

‘Mr. Hamilton? Seriously?’ She thought.

For the past couple of days, Ian had been blowing up her phone every morning with texts and every night with video calls.

She was getting fed up, so today she straight-up declined his calls and didn’t even bother opening his texts.

Chloe checked her phone and saw the messages Ian had sent her.
