Patrick hurried over to Mia and managed to stop his cousin, Dustin, from getting handsy just in time.
Dustin pushed up his glasses and grumbled, “Patrick, weren’t you feeling sick? Why are you here with Mia?”
Patrick replied smoothly, “Ian couldn’t make it, so he asked me to look after Mia.”
‘I really don’t like the way that sounds,’ Mia thought, feeling annoyed.
Mia snapped at Dustin, “Who I came here with is none of your business.”
Dustin looked uncomfortable. “Mia, Patrick’s fiancée, is here, too. I’m just worried people might get the wrong impression.”
Mia tugged at Patrick’s sleeve. “Patrick, go take care of your stuff. I’ll just look around on my own.”
Mia headed straight for Andrea.
Andrea recognized Mia right away.
Andrea wasn’t exactly close with the Hamiltons. But back when she was dating Ian, she’d already dug up everything there was to know about his family.
She’d been stressing about not running into Ian, but looking at that. Here was her chance.
Andrea stepped forward. “Miss Hamilton, long time no see.”
Mia couldn’t help but mock, “Andrea, you really are something. You set up my brother and tried to scam the Hamiltons out of millions, and now you’re already out? That was fast.”
As soon as Mia said that, the crowd started buzzing with gossip, everyone eager to see the drama unfold.
Andrea stood there, clearly embarrassed and awkward in front of Mia.
‘This whole mess was over, but that bitch Mia just had to drag it out in public,’ Andrea fumed inwardly.
Feeling guilty, Andrea hurried to explain, “Miss Hamilton, even if you have a problem with me, you can’t just slander me in front of everyone. If I’d really done something wrong, the police wouldn’t have let me off so easily, would they?”
Mia paused, pretending to think. “Let me remember. What’s the last name of that sugar daddy who helped you out again?”
Violet, standing next to Andrea, suddenly tensed up.
She instinctively glanced at Eleanor Quinn, the wife of Henry, beside her, and quickly tried to change the subject.

“Andrea, this is the Yang family’s charity gala. If you and Miss Hamilton have some personal issues, take them somewhere private. Don’t ruin the mood for everyone,” Violet said.
Andrea nodded quickly.
Mia gave a sarcastic laugh.
Mia saw Dustin and Patrick behind and said, “Dustin, is your family going bankrupt or what?”
Dustin rushed over. “What’s wrong, Mia?”
Mia pointed at Andrea. “You let trash like her in here? Who are you trying to gross out?”
Dustin was about to have Andrea thrown out, but his parents quickly stopped him.
Violet glanced awkwardly at Eleanor. “Sorry, Mrs. Quinn. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have brought my niece and dragged you into this mess.”
Eleanor stepped up to defend Andrea. “Miss Hamilton, you may be the most prominent heiress, but the Quinn family is one of the eight powerhouses, too. I brought Andrea here myself. Are you trying to disrespect the Quinn family as well?”
Mia saw Eleanor and suddenly put the pieces together.
She walked right up to Eleanor, pointing at Andrea. “So that’s why Mr. Quinn bent over backwards to get Andrea out of the police station.
“Mr. Quinn personally paid Ian 20 million and even handed over that plot of land in East City, just to get lan to cut her some slack. Turns out she’s your friend, Mrs. Quinn.”
As soon as Mia dropped that bomb, the crowd started buzzing with gossip.
“Wow, I never thought Mr. Quinn was so generous.”
“Seriously, just for a friend, he forked over 20 million and even gave up that land in East City.”
“I heard a bunch of families were fighting over that East City plot.”
“Wait, is that woman Mr. Quinn’s mistress or something?”
“Don’t say that. Mrs. Quinn is standing right here.”
The crowd was buzzing with gossip, everyone talking over each other.
Andrea and Violet’s faces fell instantly.
Eleanor stood there, stunned, taking a long moment to process what she’d just heard.
She stopped Mia, blurting out in shock, “Miss Hamilton, do you have any actual proof for what you just said?”
Mia pointed at Andrea and Violet. “The people involved are standing right here. Don’t ask me. Ask them.”

With that, Mia stepped aside, ready to sit back and enjoy the show.
Eleanor turned to Violet and Andrea.

Without missing a beat, Violet stepped forward. “Mrs. Quinn, we’ve been friends for years. Please don’t just believe what other people say.”
Andrea quickly jumped in, “Mrs. Quinn, to be honest, I used to date Miss Hamilton’s brother for a while. But the Hamiltons thought my background wasn’t up to their standards, so they forced us to break up.
“I really have no idea what I did to make her want to make up stories about me.”
After that, Violet leaned in and whispered to Eleanor, “Andrea and Mr. Hamilton were together, but they broke up over some silly disagreement. Miss Hamilton is just out to humiliate Andrea. Mrs. Quinn, don’t let her mess with your reputation.”
Eleanor looked skeptical. “Is that really what happened?”
Violet nodded firmly. “Mrs. Quinn, don’t buy into Miss Hamilton’s drama. There were some misunderstandings between Mr. Hamilton and Andrea, but it’s nowhere near as bad as she’s making it sound.
“Miss Hamilton is just trying to drive a wedge between us after all these years. Please don’t fall for it.”
Andrea gave everyone her best wounded look and said, “Even though Ian still has feelings for me, I know I’m not worthy of him. I really don’t know why Miss Hamilton just won’t leave me alone.”
Andrea and Violet totally tag-teamed, playing off each other so well that they wrapped Eleanor around their fingers.
At the same time, they made sure everyone in the room got the message. Andrea and Ian used to date.
Mia was honestly surprised. She’d stirred the pot this much, and those two still hadn’t gone at each other.
Just as Mia was ready to bail, totally bored, a few police officers strode into the hall.
