As soon as Mia led Renee and Eleanor out the door, Violet’s legs buckled, and she nearly collapsed.

Violet, flustered and panicked, turned to Henry. “Henry, your daughter just snapped pictures of us. You can’t call the cops.”

Henry quickly helped her onto the bed. “I’m keeping this in mind. I’ll let them off the hook this time.”

Just then, the cops showed up at the door.

Henry and Violet pretended they were just having a marital spat and hadn’t explained things clearly, but the cops still gave them a good lecture.

After the cops left, Violet sat on the bed and broke down in tears.

She covered her face, crying into her hands.

She sobbed, “Henry, your wife and daughter caught us in the act and even took pictures. Even if I gave you a son, we could never show our faces again.

“Miss Hamilton is friends with your daughter. She saw everything. If she goes home and talks, causing Mr. Hamilton to doubt your character and refuse to help Andrea anymore just because of you, what am I supposed to do?

“I’ve followed you for more than ten years with nothing to show for it. I went through several miscarriages just trying to give you a son, and in the end, your wife and her sisters beat me half to death.

“After all these years, what was it even for?”

Henry sat on the edge of the bed, his face so swollen he looked like he’d just gone a few rounds in the ring, aching all over, but he still pulled Violet into his arms.

He promised, “Violet, don’t worry. Since things have gotten this far, there’s no point in hiding anymore. Just lay low at home for now. I’ll figure out a way to get Andrea out of lockup.”

Violet probed, “Henry, I can handle a little humiliation, but I’ll never let my son be called a bastard. Get Andrea out, then divorce your wife and give me a legitimate status. I won’t let my son grow up without a proper name.”

Originally, she’d planned to wait until the baby was born before making Henry file for divorce.

But now that their affair was exposed, her belly would only get bigger, and there’s no way she could keep it a

secret.

Violet thought, ‘If Henry couldn’t divorce his wife and make me the rightful mistress of the Quinn family, Eleanor and her family would never let me get away with it.

‘By then, I wouldn’t be able to protect myself, keep my beauty salon, or even keep my unborn child and Andrea safe.’

Henry stood by the bed, straightening his suit. “Violet, don’t worry. If you have a son for me, I’ll bring you into the family to be my wife.

“But we can’t rush things with divorce. I’ll see if I can meet with Mr. Hamilton this afternoon. I’ll get you a new place to stay. You should move out for now.”

After all these years of marriage, that old hag had only given him a single daughter, and now she’d gotten her whole family to gang up on him like this.

When it came time to split the assets, he’d make sure they got stuck with most of the debt.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of Evergreen Residence.

Eleanor watched the police car drive away, then turned to Mia. “Miss Hamilton, I was rude to you at the Young family’s charity gala. I apologize. Thank you for what you did today. I won’t be coming over to the Hamilton Manor.”

Mia hadn’t really planned to invite Eleanor and Renee over anyway. “Mrs. Quinn, you don’t need to be so formal with me.

“Your daughter and I went to college together. We’re friends. If you ever need help, just have her reach out to me directly.”

After parting ways with Eleanor Renee, Mia headed straight for the Hamilton Group.

“Ian, did you watch the video I sent you?” Mia blurted out.

Mia couldn’t wait. She rushed into the office and spilled everything she’d just seen, telling lan the whole story from start to finish.

Ian set down his coffee cup and stood up. “Just let the Quinn family do whatever they want. It’s none of our

business now.”

Mia said, “Ian, Chloe sent me a bunch of clothes and bags from Tecnovia. They’re all so pretty.

“I just called Chloe. She said she’d be coming back early this year. Don’t forget to throw her a welcome party when she gets here. I want to get her a gift.”

At the mention of Chloe Irvine, Ian felt tightness in his chest.

He nodded, keeping his expression neutral. “We’ll see when the time comes.”

Every single one of those was something Ian had picked out for Chloe himself.

She didn’t keep a thing, not even bother opening the packages, just sending everything straight back.

Ian’s mood hit rock bottom. He slumped back into his chair and grabbed the stack of files on his desk.

Mitchell knocked, greeted Mia, and walked over to Ian’s desk.

He opened the envelope, pulled out a fat stack of cash, and set it down respectfully in front of lan. “Mr Hamilton, Mr. Quinn booked a private room at the Royal Court Club for tonight, and he wants to meet you.

“This is the bribe he tried to slip me.”

Ian tapped the cash with his file. “Since he gave it to you, just keep it.”

Mitchell had been by Ian’s side long enough to know exactly how he handled things.

When Ian said that, it was as good as a yes.

It was past eight when Ian and Patrick left the Hamilton Manor together, heading for the Royal Court Club.

In the back seat of the luxury car, Ian shot Patrick a look. “You’re running to the old house more than I do lately.”

Patrick flashed a smug little smile. “You owe me, you know. I just sweet-talked Edward into letting your dad stop interfering with your decisions at the company.”

Ian gave Patrick a once-over. “You really do have a knack for getting people on your side.”

Patrick grinned from ear to ear. “Obviously.”

The two of them made their way up to the second floor of the Royal Court Club.

Henry had been waiting in the private room for a full four hours before Ian finally showed up.

When Henry saw Ian, he rushed out of the room, not even caring about his swollen face. “Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Lewis.”

Patrick pointed at Henry’s face, which was so swollen it looked like he’d gone a few rounds with a heavyweight. “Mr. Quinn, I’ve got a mask in my car. Want me to grab it for you?”
