Outside the door, Eric knocked and asked, “Should I go now?”

Chloe turned and yelled at the door, “Leave now, before my parents get home!”

Eric couldn’t help but smirk at Chloe’s reaction from outside.

Even someone like Eric had to sneak around sometimes.

About ten minutes later, Eric drove out of the neighborhood.

The window of a black luxury car by the curb slid down slowly, its occupant watching as Eric’s car pulled away, not looking away until it was completely out of view.

Chloe showed up right on time with Blair, who happened to be in town visiting family, and two other girls from class.

Everyone else had already arrived early.

Ian was sitting right in the middle of the couch, with Patrick, Mia, and a few close friends on his left.

There was an empty spot on Ian’s right.

As usual, that seat was always reserved for Chloe.

Chloe and Ian locked eyes, and she froze on the spot.

Blair caught Chloe’s discomfort, grabbed her hand, and nodded toward the other side. “Let’s go sit over there instead.”

Chloe was about to take a seat when Patrick and Mia stepped in front of her and Blair, blocking their way.

Mia offered Chloe a small, elegant gift box. “Here, this is for you, Chloe.”

Chloe smiled and accepted it graciously, slipping it into her bag.

Patrick pointed at the seat next to Ian and grinned at Chloe. “This one’s for you. Come on, have a seat.”

Blair spoke up to ease the tension. “I want to sit with Chloe.”

The guy beside the empty spot jumped up right away. “You two take this seat, I’ll just move over.”

Chloe and Blair glanced at each other, a little embarrassed, but couldn’t really say no.

Patrick nudged Chloe right into the seat next to lan.

Patrick, with a sly grin, nudged Chloe straight into Ian’s arms.

Chloe was caught off guard and found herself landing in Ian’s arms in front of everyone.

With everyone cheering and teasing, Chloe, flustered, scrambled to get up.

Ian restrained himself, reluctantly releasing his grip on Chloe’s waist so she could get up.

One of the guys stood up and started pouring drinks for everyone. “Chloe, it’s your welcome party tonight. You gotta have a few more for us!”

Ian reached over and took the glass away from Chloe, sliding a dessert and a plate of fruit in front of her instead.

He glanced at Patrick. “She can’t drink. Get her some warm fruit drinks instead.”

Chloe glanced around, noticing how everyone was giving her and Ian those knowing, mischievous looks.

She turned to Ian and said, “It’s okay, I can have a little.”

Ian leaned in, met her gaze, and spoke in a low voice, “Don’t force it, you’re on your period.”

Chloe quietly looked away, not saying another word.

Ian thought, ‘It took him two lifetimes to finally get this right.

‘But honestly, I don’t feel moved at all. It’s just laughable.’

Seeing how much Ian was fussing over Chloe, everyone started gossiping.

“People always say Chloe has been all over Ian, but honestly, it looks more like lan is the one chasing after her.”

“They’ve been childhood sweethearts forever. They missed out on getting married last time, but next time, it’s a sure thing. At this point, does it even matter who’s chasing who?”

“Seriously! Ian even remembers Chloe’s period. If that’s not mutual, I don’t know what is.”

“For real, ever since Chloe walked in, Ian’s eyes have been glued to her. We all saw it.”

Chloe pulled Eric in, and the three of them ended up video chatting and drinking. Before she knew it, she was totally wasted.

‘Andrea really messed things up for all of us.’

Patrick had always adored Mia, showering her with unconditional affection ever since they were kids. There was no limit to how much he pampered her.

Ian sat right next to Chloe, his intense gaze locked on her every move.

Mia came over, bent down, and clinked glasses with Chloe.

Mia grinned and asked, “Chloe, when are you and my brother Ian tying the knot again?”

Patrick shot Mia a look, but she just pretended not to notice.

Mia knew there was trouble between lan and Chloe.

But Chloe had been chasing after lan for years, pouring her heart out to Mia about her feelings time and time again.

Mia knew better than anyone just how crazy Chloe was about Ian, and how much she wanted to marry him.

Mia remembered how Ian had taken a beating just for wanting to marry Chloe, and then went through hell with his family when the wedding got called off. There was no doubt in her mind. Ian really did care about Chloe.
