Chapter 330
Chapter 330
Eric walked over to the two of them. “What a coincidence, Mr. Hamilton. Fancy seeing you here.”
Ian replied, “Yeah, I was just having a drink with Mr. Irvine.”
Eric instantly caught the meaning behind Ian’s words, He glanced at Chloe and explained, “I just happened to be in the area and wanted to talk to Dr. Irvine about something.”
Ian shot Chloe a look, his expression unreadable.
Chloe lowered her gaze, trying to dodge the attention of both men.
Her family lived in the city center, while the Jordan family, Jordan Hospital, and Eric’s shopping district were all the way out in Verdantville.
Every single time he showed up, it was always that “just passing by” excuse. A lie so obvious, yet he delivered it with a straight face.
Ian adjusted Chloe’s coat, making sure she was bundled up. “The wind is picking up. You should hurry back inside before you catch a chill.”
Chloe smiled through clenched teeth and muttered, “I know.”
Ian stared blankly at Chloe’s soft face, his heart giving a sudden, heated thump.
That gentle side of her used to belong to him alone, but he had thrown it away.
Ian forced himself to hold back the storm raging inside, biting down his feelings as he turned and left.
Chloe watched as Ian’s car slowly pulled away, finally letting out a quiet sigh of relief.
If it weren’t for his heart attack in his previous life that killed him suddenly, she would have vented her frustration and told him never to come again.
Eric followed Chloe’s gaze, watching Ian’s taillights fade into the distance. He sounded jealous as he said, “What, can’t bear to see him go?”
Chloe pulled her gaze back and looked at Eric, thinking, ‘Fortunately, you didn’t say anything inappropriate.’
She rolled her eyes at him. “Eric, what are you doing here?”
The more Chloe hung out with Eric, the less she could take him seriously.
Everyone saw Eric, an heir to the Jordan family, as the perfect gentleman, but honestly, he was anything
but.
Eric said to Chloe, “Do you mind if I use your bathroom?”
Chloe was at a loss for words. She thought, ‘Everyone has urgent needs. Now that he had asked, how could I refuse?’

Chapter 330
Chloe pointed toward the elevator and turned to head inside first.
Eric followed her.
Chloe warned, “My parents and brother are all here, so don’t say anything stupid.”
Eric nodded. “Relax, Dr. Irvine, I’m famous for being tight-lipped. You’ve got nothing to worry about.”
Chloe closed her eyes for a second.
Eric really was famous for being tight-lipped. That night’s secret stayed buried, but around her, he couldn’t stop joking or teasing.
Chloe just couldn’t shake the feeling that Eric was the type to accidentally blurt things out if she wasn’t noticing.
Chloe braced herself and led Eric into her house.
Carl stared at Eric. “Chloe, who’s this guy?”
Her parents heard the commotion and hurried over.
Chloe introduced him awkwardly. “He’s my leader at work.”
Eric smiled. “Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Irvine, I’m Dr. Irvine’s colleague. I was just passing by and wanted to discuss something with her.”
Chloe looked at Eric, unable to hide her frown. She thought, ‘Wait, what did he just say a minute ago? He said he wanted to use the bathroom.
As soon as they heard he was Chloe’s colleague and leader, they ushered him right into the living room.
Eric casually checked out the Irvine family’s living room.
He said, “Mr. and Mrs. Irvine, I’m getting ready to renovate the house I’ll be moving into after I get married. Your place looks fantastic. Would you mind if I took a look around?”
Before Eric could even finish, Chloe dropped the orange she’d just picked up.
Chloe and Eric shot each other a look.
Eric put on his most serious face and asked, “Dr. Irvine, is that okay?”
Chloe turned away and took a deep breath.
Her parents didn’t hesitate. “Chloe, go ahead and give your colleague the grand tour.”
Chloe, feeling a little awkward, headed upstairs with Eric.
Carl, munching on his apple, couldn’t help but snark, “Seriously, was it really necessary to come all the way here instead of just calling?”
Her parents exchanged a look.

Jill dragged Frank out onto the balcony, saying, “Doesn’t Chloe’s colleague look kind of familiar? Wait, is Chloe dating that guy?”
The Irvine family had been out of high society for years, so Frank didn’t have any impression of Eric at all.
Frank said, “When Chloe called off her wedding with Ian, she said she was still young and wanted to work for a couple of more years before settling down. Guess we’re just reading too much into it.”
Jill agreed, “This guy seems nice enough, but honestly, I still think Ian’s a better fit for Chloe.”
Frank sighed. “Even if we think Ian’s great, it’s really not up to us.”

Chloe, feeling a little embarrassed, dragged Eric into her room on the second floor.
The Jordan family lived in grand luxury, and her apartment could hardly compare. She knew he was doing this on purpose.
Chloe said, “Eric, are you going to use the bathroom or not?”
Eric’s eyes landed on a casual photo of Chloe sitting on her nightstand. He wandered around the room, taking his sweet time. “Typical girl’s room. It smells good.”
Chloe was so stunned by Eric’s comment. She blocked Eric’s way, wishing she could just tape his mouth
shut.
Chloe shot him a stern look. “Eric, can you just be quiet for a second?”
Eric locked his intense gaze on Chloe. He leaned over slowly, his voice low and teasing. “If I do what you say, do I get a reward?”
His eyes seemed to pull Chloe in, sending her heart into overdrive.
Chloe, flustered, backed away, but Eric kept approaching, stopping only when her legs hit the bed, and she sat down.
Chloe breathed a quiet sigh of relief and was just about to get up when Eric suddenly bent down toward
her.
She instinctively leaned back, trying to dodge him, but Eric planted one hand beside her, caging her in and trapping her between his arms.
