The Billion-Dollar Divorce (Ian and Chloe) novel Chapter 333

Chapter 333

Chapter 333

<

Chloe jerked her hand free from Ian and demanded, “What do you mean?”

Ian lowered his voice and said, “You have to catch a thief red-handed. The big fish hasn’t bitten yet. If you act now, you’ll just tip them off.”

In the darkness, Chloe locked eyes with Ian, gradually calming herself.

Ian never made a move unless he was certain of the outcome.

If he was this sure, he must’ve already set everything up.

Ian reassured her, “Don’t worry. I’ve already made all the arrangements. Philip’s wife and child will be safe.”

Chloe quietly looked away.

Neither of them spoke again. They quietly waited in a dark corner.

Half an hour later, two more cars finally pulled in.

A foreigner and a bald man stepped out of the cars, followed by a bunch of armed goons, at least a dozen

of them.

Chloe stared in disbelief as the group marched toward the half-built building, instantly pulling out her phone to call the police.

She turned to Ian and said, “I have to go save Philip’s wife and kid!”

Ian held Chloe back.

He softened his voice and reassured her, “Mitchell and his guys are already inside. Just in case, I’ll go in. You stay here and keep an eye out until the cops get here.”

Chloe insisted, “I’m coming with you.”

Ian promised, “Trust me. Even if something happens to me, I swear nothing will happen to Philip’s wife

and kid.”

Their eyes met.

Ian looked at her with fierce determination.

Chloe had to nod, doing as he said.

This time, she decided to trust Ian.

Watching Ian disappear into the pitch-black, half-built building, Chloe anxiously kept watch outside, her nerves stretched to the breaking point.

There was already a group of kidnappers inside, and now two more groups had gone in, each one armed to the teeth.

Chapter 333

She’d only ever seen scenes like this on TV.

About ten minutes later, squad cars came roaring up with sirens blaring.

Chloe finally saw a glimmer of hope.

A police officer jumped out and asked, “Did you call this in?”

Chloe pointed at the half-built building. “Yes, I did! There is a woman and her child being held hostage inside. Please, you have to save them. Hurry!”

The officers dashed straight into the half-built building.

Chloe tried to go in after them, but the cops held her back.

Soon after, Ian came out, carrying Simon in his arms.

Simon seemed unconscious, just lying quietly against Ian’s chest.

Ian was in a black suit, with a clear knife wound on his arm. Blood was dripping down his sleeve, but it was too dark for anyone to notice.

Gloria looked terrified, with a female cop and Mitchell supporting her as she came out.

Chloe rushed over. “Is Simon okay?”

Ian reassured her, “He passed out from the fright, but he and his mom are both fine.”

Chloe was a doctor, and blood never escaped her notice.

She looked him over and spotted the wound on Ian’s arm.

Chloe gently took Simon into her arms. “You’re hurt, let me take him.”

Ian gazed down at Chloe, unable to stop a small smile from curling on his lips.

‘She’s worried about me, he thought. ‘She still cares about me. That realization made his heart skip a beat with excitement.

About an hour later, Chloe and Ian were in the lobby of Westside General Hospital.

After Chloe finished patching up Ian’s arm, they headed over to check on Simon in his room.

At the door, they saw Philip hugging Gloria by the bedside, clearly worried about her and trying to

comfort her.

Chloe couldn’t help admiring, “Philip really is such a good guy.”

Ian just stared at her, looking a bit stunned.

He asked, “If in your old life Philip had kept pursuing you, would you have considered him?”

Chloe looked up at lan and said, “Yes.”

His hands balled into fists at his sides without him even realizing.

Chloe kept her cool and told Ian, “Philip is the most considerate man I’ve ever met. He knows how to

respect boundaries, and he’s genuinely warm. He’s the best dad anyone could ask for.”

Ian’s gaze wavered for a moment before he looked away down the corridor.

Chloe spent three years married to him.

He neglected her, betrayed her, and hurt her.

He couldn’t even protect their child.

He wasn’t a good husband, and he didn’t deserve to be called a father.

The atmosphere in the hallway felt strangely tense and oppressive.

When Chloe saw that the people inside had stopped their hug, she knocked softly on the door.

Gloria, her voice trembling with emotion, said, “Honey, if it weren’t for Mr. Hamilton and Dr. Irvine tonight, Simon and I might never have made it back to you. Especially Simon. Mr. Hamilton literally took a knife for him. He saved our boy’s life.”

Philip squeezed Gloria’s hand, his gratitude overflowing. “Mr. Hamilton, Dr. Irvine, thank you for saving my wife and my kid.”

Philip handed each of them a business card. “If you ever need anything from me, just let me know.”

Chloe brushed it off. “Philip, you are welcome. I just happened to notice Gloria was being followed and got curious, so I went to check it out. Mr. Hamilton was the one who actually saved them.”

She tried to make it sound like no big deal.

She and Ian both had memories from their previous lives, so they could avoid the same tragedies as

before.

But in their old life, things were pretty tense between lan and Philip, all because of her.

She never expected lan to have planned everything and jumped in to rescue Gloria and Simon.
