Andrea thought, ‘So what if they knew about my dark past? I’m the true Jordan heiress now. We rise and fall together. Even if they don’t like it, the Jordans have to cover for me and handle whatever comes.
Sophie snapped from behind, “What are you sneaking around for?”
Andrea spun around, her heart pounding with guilt.
Sophie stepped up to where Andrea had just been, catching her parents and Astrid’s voices through the cracked doorway.
Sophie glared at Andrea, her finger pointed accusingly. “Seriously? You were spying on my grandma and my parents?”
Andrea denied it right away. “Sophie, watch your words. I just got here, was about to talk to Grandma, and then you showed up.”
“Liar!” Sophie snapped. “I saw you eavesdropping at the door from across the hall. Don’t even try to deny
it!”
Andrea retorted, “Sophie, I’m your sister, you know! How can you talk to me with such an attitude?”
Sophie pointed at Andrea, her face full of disgust. “Everyone knows you are trouble. You’re no sister of
mine!”
Andrea’s eyes flashed with a ruthless, dangerous glint.
She checked to make sure the hallway was empty, then snatched Sophie’s wrist and jerked it hard.
Sophie cried out in pain, “You’re such a witch! Let go of me!”
Andrea leaned in, her voice low and threatening. “Sophie, you’d better show some respect to your sister, or you’ll pay for it.”
Sophie’s eyes filled with tears, both from fear and pain.
Just as she heard people coming out of the room, Andrea grabbed Sophie’s wrist and made it look like Sophie had slapped her hard across the face. Then she staggered back, clutching her cheek.
Sophie was way too young to deal with this kind of drama.
She pointed at Andrea and yelled, “You’re an evil woman!”
Astrid, Hanna, and Gerardo walked out and found themselves in the middle of this mess.
Andrea hurried to Astrid’s side, clutching her face and crying pitifully.
Hanna immediately pulled Sophie over. “Sophie, what’s going on?”
Sophie pointed at Andrea. “Mom, Dad, she was eavesdropping on you, and when I caught her, she kept denying it!”

Andrea denied it again, “Sophie, I already explained. I just got to Grandma’s door to talk to her. You misunderstood me.”
Astrid pulled Andrea’s hand away, revealing a clear handprint on her cheek.
Astrid marched over and gave Sophie a sharp slap across the face.
Sophie was left dazed, totally caught off guard.
She stood there in shock for a moment before bursting into tears, wailing, “Grandma, that’s so unfair!”
Hanna was visibly upset and quickly pulled Sophie close. “How could you hit Sophie?”
Astrid stood up for Andrea. “Andrea’s the older sister, and Sophie’s the younger one. She gets away with everything because everyone spoils her, and now she even dares to hit her own sister. I’m just setting her straight!”
Sophie burst into tears, totally hurt. “I didn’t hit her!”
Astrid barked, “You didn’t hit your sister? Then what, your sister just slapped herself for no reason?”
Sophie cried out, “She did! She slapped herself!”
Andrea lowered her eyes, guilt written all over her face, and sobbed, “Grandma, please don’t be mad at Sophie. I know everyone has their doubts about me and doesn’t really accept me.
“I just don’t want to be the reason for all this trouble. Grandma, maybe I should just go.”
Astrid grabbed Andrea’s hand and reassured her, “Andrea, the Jordan family is your home. As long as I’m here, nobody in this house will ever mess with you.”
Astrid walked Andrea back to her room.
The three Jordan brothers heard the commotion and came downstairs.
When Sophie saw her three brothers and Hazel, she started crying even harder.
Hazel pulled her close. “Sophie, don’t cry. Tell me, who bullied you?”
Sophie sobbed, “Hazel, Eric, Jude, Antonio, I swear I didn’t hit her!”
She lifted her arm, pulled up her sleeve, and whimpered, “She’s so scary! She almost broke my wrist.”
Everyone gathered around, staring at the nasty bruise on Sophie’s wrist. They shot each other worried looks.
Hazel, feeling sorry for her, led Sophie upstairs to put some medicine on her wrist.
Hanna shot Gerardo a look. “Let’s go to our room. I need to talk to you.”
Gerardo obediently followed her back to their room.
The three Jordan brothers all looked grim.

Jude said, “Antonio, is Grandma out of her mind? She actually slapped Sophie just to stand up for Andrea?”
Eric chimed in, “It’s fine to recognize her as family, but she doesn’t have to live here with us. Why don’t you talk to Mom, Dad, and Grandma, and tell them to let her move out?”
Antonio sighed, “Mom and Dad can’t really decide this, and Grandma probably won’t listen to me anyway.”
The next morning, Andrea had breakfast with Astrid.
Only the two of them were in the huge dining room.
Andrea stood uncomfortably beside Astrid, her voice full of grievance. “Grandma, you saw it yourself. Nobody wants me to stay. Please let me leave. Even if I live somewhere else, I’ll still come back every day to look after you.”
Last night, Astrid specifically told everyone that this breakfast was meant to be the Jordan family’s first time all together, and everyone was supposed to come down on time.
But not a single one of them showed up.
Andrea burned this humiliation into her memory.
‘Sooner or later, I’d make them pay for it, she thought.
Astrid’s face turned livid with anger as she called the butler, “Harold, go get everyone down here right
now!”
Harold hurried off to do as he was told.
Not long after, Harold came back. “Mrs. Astrid Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. Jordan will be here in a minute.”
Astrid asked, “Where are the boys? And what about Hazel?”
Harold said, “Ms. Sophie Jordan’s wrist got hurt by Ms. Sherman, and then you slapped her. She was in so much pain that she couldn’t sleep all night. So, this morning, Mrs. Hazel Jordan and the three Mr. Jordans took her to the hospital.”
Astrid turned to Andrea. “Was it you who hurt Sophie’s wrist?”
