Even though Hanna and Gerardo did everything they could to stop Astrid, they just couldn’t go against her will.

They prepared a generous gift, and Astrid, together with Hanna and Gerardo, personally took Andrea along to pay a visit to the Hamilton family.

Chloe had just gotten out of bed when she got an “emergency SOS” call from Mia. She grabbed a cab and headed straight to the Hamiltons’.

Ian was already standing at the door. When he saw Chloe, he didn’t look surprised at all, as if he’d been expecting her.

Chloe called, “Ian, I’m here to see Mia.”

Before Ian could even say a word, Chloe walked right past him without stopping.

Ian stood there, staring after Chloe as she walked away.

He’d found out early this morning that she was coming, and he’d been waiting at the door for almost an

hour.

But when she finally showed up, she didn’t even pause for a second for him.

Ian quietly looked away and followed Chloe into the living room.

As they walked into the living room, Chloe saw Edward and Shane.

She paused for a moment and then greeted them politely.

Now that Chloe and Ian’s engagement was off, the two elders of the Hamilton family weren’t as hostile toward Chloe as they used to be.

Edward simply nodded in response.

Chloe didn’t waste any time and went straight upstairs to find Mia.

Watching Chloe head upstairs, Ian instructed the staff, “Send two breakfasts upstairs.”

He added, “And bring up two bowls of ice cream, easy on the chocolate.”

The staff hurried off to get it done.

Shane noticed Ian couldn’t take his eyes off Chloe, looking completely lovesick, and it made him angry.

He snapped, “Back when we told you not to marry her, you insisted. But when we had everything ready for your wedding, you called it off.

“Honestly, I think the one who got rejected is you. What a disappointment. I can’t believe you are my son.”

Ever since the wedding with Chloe was canceled, lan refused to date, wouldn’t go see other girls, and wouldn’t even consider a family-arranged match. Except for his mom and Mia, he wouldn’t say a word to

any other woman.

Shane was starting to get anxious.

If this kept up, Mia would be married off before lan even found someone.

It was just ridiculous in his eyes.

Mia spotted Chloe coming in and wasted no time dragging her straight into the bedroom on the second floor.

Chloe, looking worried, asked, “Seriously, what’s happened? Why the emergency call?”

Mia rolled up her sleeve and shoved her arm at Chloe. “Come on, check my pulse. I think I’m pregnant.”

Chloe was stunned for a second.

She said, “Did you even try a pregnancy test?”

Mia looked totally miserable. “I did it twice! Both came up negative, so I called you. My period’s a week late, and lately I’m just eating and sleeping nonstop.”

‘It’s all Patrick’s fault, Mia thought. ‘He’s either sweet-talking me or tricking me, and if he’d tried every position. I never get a break.

‘Every time we see each other, he just wants to jump at me. It’s endless. And honestly, I’m no better. One little tease and I’m putty in his hands.

Chloe had no choice but to check Mia’s pulse, but didn’t find any signs of pregnancy.

Mia finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Right then, the maid brought up two breakfasts.

Mia dragged Chloe out to the sitting room so they could eat together.

Chloe eyed the ice cream in front of her, picked up a spoon, and took a taste.

Mia leaned in and whispered, “Ian knew you were coming, so he had the kitchen make this just for you. Is it good?”

Chloe put her spoon down.

She changed the subject and asked, “If you really were pregnant, what would you do?”

Mia stuffed a sandwich into her mouth in one bite. “I’d take a break from school, have the baby, let Patrick look after it, and then go back to class.”

Chloe gave Mia a thumbs-up.

Most people wouldn’t have the guts to do that.

But Chloe still reminded her, “If you’re not planning on having a baby yet, make sure you use protection. Abortion is really hard on your body.”

Mia nodded, totally serious. “Don’t worry, Chloe. Patrick’s always super careful about that. He doesn’t want me getting pregnant too early and messing up my studies.”

Mia continued, a little embarrassed, “It was just that one time. My skirt was a bit too short, and Patrick lost control. We didn’t have any protection in the car, and then I forgot to take my pill.”

Chloe covered her face. “Mia, is that really something you should be saying out loud?”

Mia teased, “Chloe, want to hear all the details?”

Chloe just collapsed onto the table.

After breakfast, Chloe was about to head home, and Mia walked her downstairs.

In the living room, the Jordan family had just arrived.

When Andrea saw Chloe standing next to Mia, a flash of jealousy flickered in her eyes.

‘How could someone this gorgeous be at the Hamilton family’s place?’ Andrea thought.

Andrea walked over to Mia and Chloe, trying to sound casual. “Ms. Hamilton, who is this?”

Mia glanced at Ian and said, “Did my friend offend you or something?”

Andrea secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

‘So, she’s just a friend of Mia’s, Andrea thought.

Andrea put on her best smile. “No, Ms. Hamilton. I just think this young lady is really pretty and wanted to make a friend.”

Chloe stood next to Mia, not bothering to introduce herself.

She could tell Andrea wasn’t really interested in being friends.

And honestly, Chloe wanted nothing to do with Andrea.

The two exchanged a look, and just as Andrea was about to say something, she heard Astrid calling her, so she turned and headed into the living room.

Chloe glanced into the living room and saw all the elders from both the Jordan and Hamilton families gathered together.

She turned to Mia and said, “I’m gonna head out. Let’s talk another day, okay?”

Mia latched onto Chloe’s arm, refusing to let go. “Ugh, I hate that woman. Come on, let’s go eavesdrop and see what they’re up to.”

Chloe quickly tried to pull away. “Mia, I really shouldn’t stick around.”

“This has nothing to do with me anyway, Chloe thought. ‘Mrs. Astrid Jordan came here for something important. It’d be weird for me to hang around.

Mia tugged harder, determined not to let Chloe leave. “Hey, with me here, nobody’s gonna mess with you!

If anyone tries, I’ll give them a piece of my mind!”

Ian walked over and met Chloe’s eyes. “Seriously, it’s fine. I’ll give you a ride home later.”

Chloe shook her head. “No need, Ian. Really.”

She honestly just wanted to get out of there.

Mia pouted and whined, “Please? Just wait with me for Patrick. We can leave together when he gets here.”

Miranda came over with a gentle smile. “It’s really no big deal. Just make yourself feel at home.”

And with that, Mia dragged Chloe right into the living room.

Ian chose a seat a bit away from Chloe, making sure not to sit too close.

Chloe sat quietly next to Mia, doing her best to blend into the background.

She kept her coat on, and after sitting for a bit, she could feel herself starting to sweat.

Ian kept sneaking glances at Chloe out of the corner of his eye. He grabbed the remote from the coffee table and turned the AC cooler.

Andrea’s expression soured when she saw Mia dragging Chloe into the living room.

‘The Hamiltons have guests, and not only does she stick around, she even has the nerve to sit in and listen to the family talk?’ Andrea thought. ‘This woman seriously has no sense of boundaries.

Andrea’s eyes flicked to the remote in Ian’s hand, and she tried to play it cool. “I left my coat in the car. Mr. Hamilton, could I borrow a jacket?”

Ian didn’t even bother to look up.

He just told Harold, who was standing by Edward, “Harold, hand her your jacket.”
