The Billion-Dollar Divorce (Ian and Chloe) novel Chapter 346

Chapter 346

Laura and Melody had been stirred up by Lucille.

When they saw Violet come up to them herself, they immediately turned on her.

Laura pointed at Violet and started cursing her.

“So this is what you’re really like, Violet! I’ve busted my ass for the Sherman family, and you all ganged up to make me raise your brat, you little bitch!”

Violet’s mind went blank, and for a moment, she just stood there, completely stunned.

Her parents and brother had been dead for years, and Astrid had promised to keep her and Andrea’s mother-daughter relationship a secret.

‘How did Laura find out?’ Violet wondered, her heart pounding.

Snapping out of it, Violet asked cautiously, “Laura, what nonsense are you talking about? How could Andrea possibly be my daughter?”

Melody, never one to hold back, snapped, “Aunt Violet, you really know how to play your cards! Your whole family tricked my mother-in-law into raising your daughter while you get to live it up out there!”

Violet’s heart tightened. “Who’s been feeding you this crap? Was it someone from that car just

now?”

Both Violet and Andrea had their own baggage, secrets that could ruin them if exposed.

To protect Andrea’s reputation, Astrid had made sure they kept their real relationship hidden, telling everyone they were just aunt and niece.

Violet was still carrying Henry’s child, and she worried that if anyone found out, people would talk, and it would hurt her name. So she went along with Astrid’s plan.

They’d been so careful to keep everything under wraps. She didn’t know who was out there spreading rumors about them.

‘Wait, were those people in the car from the Jordan family?’ Violet thought, suspicion gnawing at her.

Violet’s mind was spinning with wild thoughts.

Laura jabbed a finger at Violet, her voice shaking with rage.

“Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been up to! You’re knocked up with some rich guy’s kid, and Andrea’s already wormed her way into the Jordan family. If you don’t compensate me, I swear I’ll make your life hell!”

Violet flatly denied that Andrea was her daughter, refusing to budge an inch.

She pulled out 10 thousand in cash from her bag and shoved it into Laura’s hand.

“Laura, we’re family! If I ever got rich, how could I forget about you guys?” Violet said, trying to sound sincere.

Laura’s eyes lit up at the sight of the cash, and she was just about to stash it away when Melody snatched it right out of her hand.

Melody scoffed, “Aunt Violet, if you and Andrea really made it into the big leagues, you could drop a fortune on a handbag without even thinking twice. And you think 10 thousand is enough to toss at my mother-in-law like she’s some beggar? Seriously?”

Violet couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief. “Melody, who’s been telling you all this crap?”

Sure, Violet was pregnant with Henry’s baby, but she wasn’t his wife or anything official. Henry only gave her a little money on the sly, always worried his wife would catch wind of it.

She’d never even seen a designer handbag, let alone owned one.

Laura snapped out of it and shot back, not buying it for a second.

“I’ve raised Andrea like my own daughter for years. I fed her, clothed her, and even paid for her college. You think you can just toss me a little cash and call it quits? Not a chance!”

Melody chimed in, “She’s right! If you don’t pay up, we’ll march straight over to the Jordan residence and make Andrea, that ungrateful brat, pay for everything!”

Violet’s heart skipped a beat when she heard they were threatening to go after Andrea. She was instantly on edge.

Gritting her teeth, she fished a bank card out of her bag.

Violet handed the card to Laura. “Laura, there’s 100 thousand on this card. Take it.”

She had to keep Melody and Laura in check. There was no way she could let them go stir up trouble at the Jordan residence.

She tried to coax them, saying, “Don’t let outsiders stir things up. If Andrea really were my daughter, do you honestly think I’d just walk away and leave her behind?”

Violet added, “Yeah, I’m pregnant with a rich guy’s kid, but I don’t have any official status. If you blow this up, both Andrea and I are finished. We don’t have any money, and you won’t

get a dime either.”

With just a few words, Violet got the two of them to drop it.

But Melody wasn’t about to let this chance slip through her fingers. “Don’t take us for idiots. We’ve got the evidence.”

Laura jumped in right away, “You’ve got one month. First, buy your nephew a villa near the best school downtown and get him a car. Then, move his kids to some fancy prep school.

“As for what you and Andrea owe me for all the years I put in, I’ll let you know once I’ve decided.”

Violet was on the verge of a breakdown. “Laura, I’m barely scraping by. I’m still stuck renting! Where am I supposed to pull the money for a car and a house for you?”

Laura waved her hand, full of attitude. “Figure it out! Go hit up your rich man, or have your daughter squeeze the Jordan family. If you can’t cough up the goods, don’t blame us for blowing this up!”

Melody jumped in, “Aunt Violet, we’ve got solid proof you and Andrea are mother and daughter. Don’t even try to play dumb. We’ve got nothing to lose, but if this blows up, you’ll be the ones left picking up the pieces!”

Melody kept her eyes locked on the bank card in Laura’s hand, and then quickly pulled her along and hurried off together.

Violet watched as Laura and Melody disappeared into the apartment building, and then turned and rushed away, her heart pounding with panic.

It was late at night at the Royal Court Club. Mitchell knocked on the door and stepped into the private room. “Mr. Hamilton, Mrs. Goodwin went to see the Sherman family.”

Ian’s long, slender fingers slowly turned the empty glass in his hand, his face completely expressionless as he just gave a quiet “Mm.”

Mitchell quietly slipped out of the room.

Patrick turned to Ian and asked, “Even if Andrea ticked you off before, do you really have to go to such lengths and use these underhanded tactics against her?”

Ian set down his glass and shook a cigarette out of the pack.

Patrick pressed, “If you wanted to make the Sherman family lose their footing in Kingsford, you’ve got a hundred ways to do it. Why bother building her up just to tear her down?”

Seeing lan still didn’t respond, Patrick shot upright in his seat. “Don’t tell me you still have a thing for her and just can’t bring yourself to hurt her?”

Ian shot Patrick a helpless look.

He lit the cigarette and held it between his fingers, but didn’t take a drag.

His face was expressionless, his tone icy and devoid of any feeling.

He said, “Letting her leave Kingsford would be way too easy on her.”

Ian wanted Andrea dead.

In his previous life, Andrea killed someone and broke the law, but all she got was a life

sentence.

This time, Ian was going to watch Andrea lose herself, little by little, watch her get more arrogant, until she’s past the point of no return.

Patrick was genuinely spooked by the look in Ian’s eyes. “Ian, you’re the heir to the Hamilton Group! Using some tricks is one thing, but you can’t go around doing illegal stuff like murder!”

Ian’s lips curled into a cold, ruthless smile. “She’s not even worth me getting my hands dirty.”

Patrick asked, “Did Chloe break up with you because you used to mess around with Andrea? Did she think you were dirty or something?”

Ian glared at Patrick, crushing the cigarette in his hand out of sheer frustration.

On Monday, Chloe ran into Eric in the hospital hallway. Chloe greeted him with a polite smile. “Mr. Jordan.”
