The Breaking Point of Mate: Giving Up on My Alpha novel Chapter 11

Third Person’s POV

Archer spoke up then. I already gave it to her.

Huh? When?Trista pouted.

Dad, you went to see Camille without me again! Hmph!

Archer’s friends burst into laughter.

Hiding nearby, Melanie remembered Camille coming to the Atkinson Group that morning. He must have given it to her then.

Camille smiled, a little embarrassed. Let’s not stand around here. Let’s go upstairs.

The footsteps faded away, but Melanie’s mind was blank.

A sharp, dense pain spread across her chest. After a long while, she snapped out of it, silently entered the elevator, and went upstairs to help her friend.

Gillian and Camille’s gathering were actually on the same floor.

As Melanie helped Gillian into the elevator, Archer’s friend, Edric, suddenly stopped.

The person next to him asked, What’s wrong?

I thought I saw someone I knew.

They had grown up with Archer and knew Melanie liked him.

Frankly, Melanie was pretty but quiet. Though attractive, she was forgettable and not Archer’s type.

Archer had always kept his distance from her, and they never paid her much mind.

They rarely saw her and didn’t bother greeting her when they did.

To be honest, his memory of Melanie was hazy. He wasn’t sure if he’d seen correctly.

But even if it was Melanie, he didn’t care. He said nothing more.

Melanie didn’t notice Edric.

Outside the hotel, she took Gillian back to her place and stayed the night to look after her.

Gillian woke up the next day, saw Melanie, and gave her a grateful hug. You were great last night! I’ll treat you sometime!

Melanie had already made breakfast. She patted Gillian’s head. Get up and get ready. Breakfast is getting cold.

Gillian hugged her, burying her face in Melanie’s waist. Thanks, Melanie.

After Gillian washed up, she saw the delicious breakfast on the table. She sincerely felt that Melanie was a perfect woman.

But thinking about Melanie and Archer’s mating, she held her tongue, afraid to touch a nerve.

She sat down, ate, and scrolled through her phone. Her expression changed quickly.

She asked Melanie, Archer is back in the States?

Melanie said, Yeah.

Gillian handed her the phone.

Chapter 11

Melanie looked. It was an I*: Happy Birthday, Camille!

*m post from Edric. He had posted several photos from the party last night with the caption,

While the greeting was for Camille, four or five of the nine photos were of Archer and Camille.

Especially the one where they were cutting the cake, both holding the same crystalhandled knife.

Their daughter, Trista, was nowhere in the pictures.

They were probably afraid the Atkinsons would find out.

After all, Archer’s grandmother, Moira, was friends with Melanie’s grandmother, Monica. Moira had never liked Camille because of what happened to Melanie’s mother.

If Moira found out Archer was letting Trista get close to Camille, she would be furious.

Looking only at the photos, an outsider would think Archer and Camille were a couple.

It was obvious to anyone that Archer had planned this birthday celebration specifically for Camille.

Melanie looked away, remembering the cold shoulder she got on her own birthday two weeks ago.

Gillian looked at her worriedly. Melanie-

It’s fine. Whatever they do, it has nothing to do with me.

Melanie handed the phone back. I asked Archer for a divorce.

What?!Gillian was shocked. You asked for the divorce?

Yeah.

Gillian hadn’t disliked Archer before. She even admired him because he was so brilliant.

Melanie graduated from a top US university before she was 18, quickly founded her own tech company, and secured several

patents.

But Archer reportedly graduated from college at 13. He was barely 20 when he returned to the US and had already started several companies that had all gone public.

Then, while running his own companies, he took over the Atkinson Group and effortlessly elevated it.

Plus, Archer was incredibly handsome,

So Gillian completely understood why Melanie, a genius herself, fell for Archer.

But Archer was truly ruthless toward those he didn’t like.

Thinking about how Archer had misunderstood Melanie and constantly betrayed her genuine feelings over the years, Gillian lost all fondness for him.

Gillian had always seen how much Melanie loved Archer.
