The Breaking Point of Mate: Giving Up on My Alpha novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110

Third Person’s POV

Back at her apartment after the lunch, Melanie’s phone rang right on time. It was Elmer.

After she gave him the rundown of the highlevel meeting Marcus had dragged her to, Elmer let out a playful, mocking snort over the line. Brigham and Spike? Those two old foxes? Yeah, I’ve had my fair share of dealings with them.

Then, he dropped a bombshell. By the way, Evander is actually Brigham’s son. Seriously, with a father who’s a legend in the Royal Military, you’d think the son wouldn’t have such trash taste at such a young age.1

Melanie hadn’t expected Evander to have that kind of background.

But to her, it didn’t change a thing.

Tuesday morning, Swift Tech held its first road test for their selfdriving vehicles.

Melanie and Elmer arrived at the testing grounds in the valley early.

Evander, Simon, and their crew were already there, looking as cold as ever. They gave Melanie and Elmer a dismissive glance before looking away, acting like the duo didn’t even exist.

Elmer wasn’t about to play games. He pulled Melanie straight to the testing console to run the final calibrations.

As the prep work wrapped up, the signal to start never came. Elmer frowned. What’s the holdup?

Alpha Archer is coming down to supervise the test personally,Dominic, the project lead, explained. We officially start the

moment he arrives.

Elmer let out a dry, cold huff. Right.

He seemed to remember something and asked, his voice devoid of warmth, By the way, where’s Ms. Haines today?

Wasn’t Camille the one claiming she was coming to Swift Tech to master her craft?

It had only been a few days, and she was already a ghost.

Dominic gave a polite smile. Ms. Haines is looking for a breakthrough. Alpha Archer decided the fastest way for her to learn is to lead. So, the CEO had us restart a major priority project that was on the shelf. Miss Haines is upstairs right now, chairing a meeting with her new core team.

Elmer’s face darkened.

He glanced at Melanie, but she was just looking down, focused on doublechecking parameters in her notebook.

She didn’t flinch at the news that Archer had basically handbuilt a team just to give Camille something to do.

Elmer sighed and reached out to ruffle her hair in a protective gesture.

Don’t,Melanie said, swatting his hand away without looking up.

Her tone was calmgenuinely calm. It seemed she really was past the point of being bothered by these petty moves.

Just then, Archer arrived.

Dwight and Edric were with him.

When their eyes landed on Melanie, both men looked genuinely shocked. They clearly hadn’t expected to see her at a hardcore technical field test after she’d dropped out of their social circle. 1

Melanie remained distant, giving them a neutral glance before looking away.

Archer, ever the polished gentleman, walked over to greet the group. Good work, everyone.

Dominic rushed forward. Alpha Archer, should we get started?

Wait a moment. We’re waiting on one more person,Archer said, his tone leaving no room for argument as he checked his watch.

I’ll go upstairs and check on the progress. Please wait for us.

He turned and left without looking back.

Melanie didn’t have to try to figure out who the one more personwas. It was Camille.

This meant every core engineer on the ground had to stand around and wait until Camille finished her meeting.

Elmer realized it too, the muscles in his jaw tight enough to snap.

Soon enough, Archer came back down with Camille.

Gloria was with them, looking sharp in a professional suit.

When Gloria saw Melanie, her eyes flashed with a predictable brand of smugness. 1

To her, it was hilarious that Melaniethe actual Lunahad to stand around like a common staffer waiting for her sisterto show up.

Melanie didn’t give her the satisfaction of a reaction. She just stared off into the distance, bored.

Camille acted perfectly poised, walking up to the group with a sweet apology. I’m so sorry for keeping you all waiting.

It sounded sincere, but as she spoke, she only looked at Evander and Elmer. She didn’t spare so much as a glance for Melanie.

Clearly, the former Lunawasn’t on her apology list.

Evander, totally mesmerized by Camille, didn’t care about the slight. It was just a few minutes. No worries.

Evander, you’re quite generous,Elmer bit out, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

He stood up abruptly. Now that everyone’s finally here, let’s stop wasting our time and get this show on the road.

Archer stayed perfectly composed, making a graceful gesture toward the field. Our apologies for the delay. Mr. Boyd, after you.

Elmer let out a sharp huff, grabbed Melanie’s hand, and led her out of the

room

first.

Archer’s eyes lingered on their joined hands for a split second. Then, his face went back to its mask of indifference, as if it were a minor detail not worth his time.

Dwight, however, stayed behind and watched them leave a little longer than necessary.
