Garnett seemed completely stunned, like someone had just hit his most vulnerable spot. He couldn’t get a single word out.
The day Rebecca arrived, the security camera in their classroom just happened to be out of order, waiting for someone to come fix it. Plus, Garnett liked to write his music out by hand. Now that the original score was missing, he didn’t have a shred of proof.
Paulina, clearly thrilled that everything was going so smoothly, had a spark of excitement in her eyes. Still, she put on an innocent look and said, “But that doesn’t mean the other guy plagiarized you, and it definitely doesn’t prove Rebecca helped steal the score. It could just be a coincidence.”
Gavin’s lips curled into a sneer as he stared at Rebecca.
“Come on, it’s not a coincidence at all. Since Rebecca joined, she’s always hanging around campus. I actually saw her walking out of the music room once. I’d gone back because I forgot my score. When I picked it up, I noticed someone had messed with it, but I didn’t think much about it back then. Now, looking back, she had to be the one who touched it. I just had no idea she was such a liar. If you don’t believe me, I can request the security footage.”
Gavin's voice was so confident that everyone started to side with him.
Garnett looked desperate. “It’s not like that. Rebecca didn’t copy anyone. That composition is mine.”
Felice, who did design work, couldn’t stand plagiarists. She rolled her eyes. “So what? Where’s your proof?”
Garnett dropped his head, his already battered face full of despair.
Growing up, things like this had happened too many times. He thought he’d grown numb to it all. But he never imagined Rebecca would get dragged into this mess because of him.
Paulina let out a big sigh and gave Rebecca a look full of fake sympathy. “Rebecca, there’s nothing more I can do to help you.”
With Gavin making all the accusations, Garnett having nothing to defend himself, and even Paulina throwing up her hands, it started to feel like the outcome was already decided.
“Someone like you doesn’t belong in Class A, Rebecca.”
