The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 118

Rebecca’s sarcasm was so clear, Gavin’s fists clenched at his sides as he fought not to lose his cool again. With Paulina watching, though, he forced himself to bite back his anger. His voice came out sharp and harsh.

“Stop running your mouth, Rebecca. You think insulting my music is going to make you look innocent? If my piece wasn’t good, why bother stealing it at all?”

Rebecca just shrugged, her tone careless.

“Honestly, your idea of ‘good’ is way too basic. At this level, I can write on demand. This isn’t impressive.”

The whole room cracked up instantly.

Everyone was laughing, except for Garnett, who just looked stunned, frozen in place.

Rebecca didn’t even flinch while the others lost it around her. She scanned their faces, unimpressed.

“Is it really that funny?”

Felice finally caught her breath, straightening up.

“Oh, Rebecca, I used to think you were just lazy and liked shortcuts, but now I see you’re a total dreamer too. A hundred in a day? Girl, you’ve been living in your fantasies for so long, they’ve scrambled your brain. Seriously, drop out of Vantage Point University and go see a doctor.”

Paulina tried to hide her laughter, but slipped right into a sweet, fake-concerned voice.

“Rebecca, look, I know you’re talented and want to prove you’re innocent, but you can’t expect anyone to believe that. It’s not worth it. If it comes to that, I’ll go with you to talk to Wade, see if he’ll go easy on you.”

Rebecca saw no point arguing with them. Without saying anything else, she leaned her chin toward Hamlin, who sat closest.

“Pen.”

Hamlin made a sound somewhere between a snort and a huff, annoyed by her confidence.

Felice rolled her eyes.

“Give it a rest, Rebecca. You’re still playing the act at a time like this? What, you think a performance will save you? Nobody here’s that gullible. Even if you write something down, it’s not like we’d ever believe you with your reputation.”

Paulina watched as Rebecca quietly took a pen and started scribbling, her head bent, her focus complete. A little wave of doubt prickled in the back of Paulina’s mind.

It’s impossible, she told herself. Rebecca never had any kind of training. No way she can really write anything, she just can’t.
