The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 119

Gavin stared at Rebecca, trying to make sense of those eyes that seemed to smile but actually felt downright icy. It was like being hit with a wave of pressure so strong he almost couldn’t breathe.

But there was Paulina right beside him, the girl he’d secretly crushed on forever. No way was he about to embarrass himself in front of her.

He didn’t back down. “How can you compare these two things? Sure, your new piece sounds better, but that doesn’t mean you didn’t steal my work before. For all we know, maybe my music was what inspired you to write your latest. Maybe it helped you pull off this so-called ‘improvisation.’”

As he spoke, he thought he’d caught Rebecca in a lie. His eyes lit up, his voice growing more and more pleased with himself.

“I’ve heard of people taking credit for things they didn’t do, but you? You don’t even bother hiding it. Rebecca, you’re the type who drags down Vantage Point University’s reputation, someone who really doesn’t deserve to be here.”

“Gavin, that’s enough. Watch what you say. Watch your mouth,” Magee cut in sharply.

Gavin’s pride dissolved in a second and he shut up fast, swallowing any retort. Everyone knew the Clark family stood higher than the Michels in Harrisburg, especially with the Whites as their relatives. Gavin wasn’t about to go up against them.

Paulina looked shocked, and something like outrage flashed across her face when Magee stepped in for Rebecca. She grabbed the sheet music, flipping through it with trembling hands. Her eyes glazed over with jealousy so strong it almost hurt to see.

How could this be?

She’d spent over ten years studying music, working for every bit of skill she had. And yet Rebecca, a nobody from Harrisburg, barely liked by the James family, turned out a song this good? That couldn’t be real. Maybe she didn’t even have the chance to learn music here. No way was she buying any of this.

But Magee, who’d already seen Rebecca compose on the spot, clearly trusted her more. He spoke up, calm but firm.

“If Rebecca can write something even better than Gavin’s in just a short time, she clearly composes all the time. That means she probably puts some kind of signature or mark in her originals, right?”

People who wrote their own stuff would often hide their own unique sign in their work, something only they would notice.

Gavin’s face blanched on hearing that. He couldn’t stop his eyes from darting to Paulina.
