The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 120

Rebecca wasn’t about to take the blame for this mess. If someone wanted to be the scapegoat, good luck to them. She had no interest in getting involved.

Magee’s jaw clenched tight, clearly annoyed by her indifference. “You…”

Paulina watched as Rebecca shut everyone down, and she decided it was time to voice her disapproval. “Rebecca, Magee is just trying to help you. Why are you talking to him like that?”

Rebecca shot Paulina a look that could freeze water. Paulina again. Of course.

“What’s it got to do with you? Did I ever say I wanted his help?”

Nobody needed Paulina policing how she spoke. Not today.

Paulina’s calm expression broke, her anger finally showing through.

“I was only trying to help. Why do you always have to assume the worst of me? If you mess this up, you could get expelled. I’m worried for you. Just think about Mom and Dad if you get kicked out right after starting school. You don’t have to thank me, but you don’t have to go out of your way to humiliate me either, do you?”

She looked down, her voice quivering, eyes growing red as if she’d been deeply wronged. She was putting on a show and everyone knew it.

Gavin couldn’t stand seeing Paulina get called out. “Rebecca, don’t act like this! I’m the one who caught you plagiarizing. I’m the one calling you out. What’s Paulina done to deserve this?”

Rebecca didn’t miss a beat. “Still none of your business. If you want to play the hero, do it somewhere else. Stop posturing. No one asked you to play her hero.”

Gavin stared at her, stunned. That word always got under his skin. He was already frustrated he’d put himself out there for someone who barely noticed him. Now she was dragging him in front of everyone.

It was humiliating.

Eyes blazing, Gavin lost it and lunged at her, fist raised. “You really want to test me…”

No one even saw what happened. Gavin lunged. Rebecca shifted once—clean, minimal—and Gavin’s momentum betrayed him. He stumbled hard into the hallway railing and went down. He hit the ground, huge and suddenly helpless.

“You really think you did a good job covering your tracks? This place is full of cameras. They know exactly what happened. Even if there was an outage, there are entry logs. Plus your phone, your email, and whatever you saved on your hard drive. If I wanted, I could dig up everything. So, what do you say—are you willing to let me look?”

Each word drained the color from Gavin’s face. He swallowed, trying to shove his fear down, his whole body tense and closed off.

Ladd, who had been hanging back enjoying the show, suddenly perked up the moment he realized his computer skills might be needed. He practically bounced over.

“He’s right, Gavin. The printout you’ve got doesn’t prove they copied you. How about you hand over your phone and laptop and I’ll check for evidence? If you’re telling the truth, we can clear your name.”

Ladd was so enthusiastic Gavin felt a chill run down his spine. Everyone at Vantage Point University knew Ladd was the best with computers. Any fake files or trails Gavin made would fall apart the second Ladd started looking.

If that happened, he might be the one getting exposed, not Rebecca.

No way was he going along with that. Not a chance.
