Watching Rebecca effortlessly draw the attention of every guy in the vicinity, Paulina was consumed by toxic, seething jealousy. That adoration belonged to her. But Rebecca was stripping it away, piece by piece.
Stealing her parents' affection at home was bad enough, but why did Rebecca have to haunt her at university too? Paulina couldn't wait to watch Rebecca fail today. Once that bitch was kicked out of Vantage Point, Paulina would personally orchestrate a smear campaign to drag her name through the mud until she was nothing.
Inside the exam room.
The candidates presented their pieces in order. Garnett was fourth. Watching the first three candidates fail to earn even a flicker of approval from the judges caused the pressure on his shoulders to multiply heavily.
“Candidate 84, Garnett Michel.”
When The Dean called his name, Wade, who hadn't bothered to look at the previous candidates, cast a brief, indifferent glance at him.
The boy was too skinny. He couldn't even withstand a single punch from Rebecca. Unsuitable. Utterly unsuitable!
Noticing Wade actually look at a student, The Dean instantly sat up straighter, signaling his own heightened attention. “Garnett, you may begin your performance.”
Garnett lifted his violin. Taking a deep breath to clear his mind, he drew the bow across the strings.
Down in the hall.
“Here we go! Let's see what masterpiece Garnett wrote to clear his name.”
“I don't know. I actually heard him play the piece that caused the plagiarism scandal, and it was incredible. I don't know if he could write something better in such a short amount of time.”
“Let's just listen.”
“Shouldn't Class A's teacher learn to manage her facial expressions? Rolling her eyes at a candidate is completely unprofessional.”
“That's nothing. I was running down the hallway near Class A because I had an emergency, and she grabbed me and screamed at me for half an hour. She said I was ruining her students' futures and threatened to write me up!”
“Tell me about it. I slipped in the cafeteria and accidentally brushed against her shoe. She lost her mind, screaming that I was deliberately trying to humiliate her. She even said my lack of balance proved I was mentally deficient and didn't belong at Vantage Point.”
Rebecca caught snippets of the complaints and wasn't surprised in the slightest. Lily's toxic behavior was long overdue for a reckoning.
Hearing the outrage, Magee's brows pulled into a tight knot. He turned to Paulina. “Is Ms. Lily really this arrogant on campus?”
He had always assumed Lily was just fiercely competitive, but hearing how she treated students from other departments was appalling. If word of this got out, the entire university's reputation would take a hit.
