Seeing Paulina still trying to help Rebecca after everything, the other students felt anxious for her.
"Campus Belle, someone like her doesn't deserve your kindness!"
"Exactly! Does she even look grateful? If she actually valued this opportunity, she wouldn't have acted so recklessly!"
Even Felice couldn't hold back her frustration. "Paulina, there's a limit to being nice. Someone like her isn't worth saving."
Paulina lowered her head slightly, offering a soft explanation. "She isn't a bad person. She just wanted everyone's approval so badly that she kept making mistakes. I believe if we give her another chance, she'll change."
The more magnanimous she acted, the more the crowd despised Rebecca. Paulina was the beloved campus idol, and her gentle words fanned the flames of resentment. The onlookers shot Rebecca glares filled with deep hostility.
"What are you looking at?!" Candace snapped, hating their judgmental stares. "Rebecca hasn't said a single word. Why are you dragging her into this?"
Edna bit her lip and chimed in. "Yeah! She's been quiet the whole time. You guys are the ones gossiping. The president hasn't even given a final verdict yet, so stop accusing her out of nowhere!"
Looking at the two girls shielding her, a strange, warm feeling fluttered in Rebecca's chest. She had thought the university was boring, but maybe she had judged it too quickly.
"Are you done arguing?"
Wade Lane's authoritative voice boomed through the speakers, instantly silencing both the exam room and the lobby below.
Lily's lips curled up slightly. She didn't believe Wade would still protect Jack and that cheating student after all this!
Garnett walked over to one of the judges and pointed to the most emotionally charged section of the score. "I downloaded this section from The Global Muse Forum. I wanted to buy the rights from the original composer, but they never replied. Knowing there was a risk of plagiarism, I arranged the piece before submitting it for my exam. To distinguish between my performance version and the original, I created two copies of the score.
"One is the version I just played, where I completely overhauled the details and melody of the most impactful section.
"The other version is the one Gavin submitted. Aside from tweaking the intro and outro, he copied the middle section note for note."
Ablitt and the judges widened their eyes. It was a bold move to arrange someone else's work for an exam! However, since arranging required serious skill, they could reluctantly accept it. But whether Gavin's score was a direct copy of the original remained to be proven.
Gavin, who had briefly panicked, burst into laughter.
