Night fell over Harrisburg, and in the most luxurious hotel in the city, Rebecca stood by a massive window, gazing down at the glittering lights below.
“Rebecca, you’re finally making a move against that idiot from the Gates family! Honestly, he’s been making enemies left and right. If he didn’t have us backing him, he would have disappeared ages ago. Now that you’re cutting ties, he’s done for. The Gates family and all his rivals are going to eat him alive.”
Odom’s excitement was so loud that Rebecca had to pull her Bluetooth earbud halfway out. “Can you chill? You’re about to blow out my eardrum.”
Odom quickly covered his mouth, but the happiness in his eyes couldn’t be hidden. “I can’t wait to see that Gates idiot get what’s coming to him.”
Rebecca didn’t bother to waste any more time. She switched topics, getting straight to the point. “For tomorrow’s auction, put only one vial of Ambrosia Vitae on the block.”
Odom was taken aback. “We’ve always done two. Why change now? Did someone else tick you off?”
Rebecca just gave a soft hum, thinking about what Sophia had said earlier. After finally finding her family, the last thing she wanted was to lose them again.
Odom caught on quickly and got even more fired up. “Who was it? Tell me, I’ll make them regret it.”
“No need. I’ll handle it myself.” Even if Sophia didn’t want treatment, Rebecca wouldn’t just abandon her own blood.
At that very moment, over at Silverlake Estates, the most famous property in Harrisburg, Norris’s assistant stood by the desk, iPad in hand. “Mr. White, the James family called asking for a spot at the auction tomorrow. The Russells are here, too. Sophia even insisted you accompany her. I declined for you, as you asked.”
Norris glanced up, his gaze icy, but kept silent.
A chill went down the assistant’s spine. Suddenly it clicked for him. “Wait, do you mean R… is the one who created Ambrosia Vitae?”
No wonder he was stunned. R was legendary—no one even knew if R was a man or a woman. But Mr. White was convinced: R was the creator.
Norris’s tapping stopped. His eyes narrowed, and his voice was low and steady. “We’ll see soon enough.”
When the day of the auction finally arrived, Paulina and Sophia showed up dressed to impress. Paulina had picked out the new Lady.M necklace that Irvin gave her. With its unique style and her striking beauty, she instantly drew every eye in the room.
