The Coma Prince’s Fiancée novel Chapter 25

Rebecca heard that jaw-dropping price and couldn’t help but freeze for a second. Sophia had only raised the bid to $14.5 million, but someone else just jumped straight to $20 million. Who on earth did that? Nobody drops that kind of money unless they want something serious.

Her phone buzzed nonstop again. Odom was at it with another string of texts.

[See? Didn’t I tell you! Twenty million! You’re a living legend now! And for having a lucky friend like me, you better think about giving me a raise!]

The endless exclamation marks made Rebecca’s head hurt. She quickly set her phone to silent and tossed it aside.

Meanwhile, the whole room started coming back to reality after the shock.

“Whoa, did I hear that right? Someone just bid 20 million?!”

“Who would do that? Their pockets must be bottomless.”

“I think it was the V888 suite. It has to be the Russells, right? I heard they’re definitely in on this auction.”

“Has to be. Who else could it be?”

“Don’t be so sure. What if it’s the Whites? Don’t forget, Norris just woke up. Maybe he’s the one desperate for this medicine.”

“Please. The whole auction house and staff belong to the Whites. If Mr. White actually wanted something, do you really think anyone else would have a shot?”

That last comment fell over the crowd, and everyone went quiet for a moment.

Hearing all the speculation, Rebecca’s thoughts skipped. The heir of the White Group? Was that really possible?

“Twenty million, going once…” the auctioneer called out, dragging out every word. He raised the gavel and seemed to take extra-long, milking the moment for all it was worth.

Sophia, realizing she was out of the game, smashed her paddle on the floor in rage. She didn’t even know who had just bought the Ambrosia Vitae, but she was already cursing them out loud.

“Oh, too bad. I’m broke.”

Sophia, seeing Rebecca acting all high and mighty, folded her arms and shot back with a cold laugh. “Don’t think you’re a real Russell just because your parents acknowledge you… You’re only a true Russell when your name is in the family registry.”

Rebecca lifted her gaze lazily. “Getting your name in the records is supposed to mean something?”

Sophia rolled her eyes, unable to hide her scorn. “Wow, you really have no clue, do you? The Russells are basically the most powerful family besides the Whites. Their resources are everywhere. Why do you think Russell family members get special treatment wherever they go?”

Over by Paulina, a flash of smugness crossed her face. She finally had something over Rebecca. So what if she was the real daughter? Their parents hadn’t thrown her any welcome party, or even told her about how important it was to get her official spot in the family records.

Paulina piped up, her tone just a little condescending. “Rebecca, even if you are Mom and Dad’s biological daughter, that doesn’t mean you’re really a Russell yet. Until your name is in the family book, you’re not officially accepted.”

She went on, “And the requirements aren’t easy. Beside your parents, you need recommendations from two people—one of whom has to be a direct relative. So really, the one who decides if you ever become one of the Russells... is Jennifer.”
