Chapter 191
The hall fell into dead silence once again.
Owen Bennett was actually here for Autumn Lopez?
What was their relationship?
No one had ever heard of them having any connection before.
Mars Wright’s eyes widened as he watched another man shield his wife, hist expression impossibly gentle as he looked at her.
“It… it was you?”
Mars suddenly remembered the few times he’d seen Owen and Autumn together. He’d never given it a second thought, but now his heart sank, and a tide of regret threatened to drown him.
Owen glanced down at Mars, a look of pure contempt on his face.
He had no intention of answering Mars’s question. Instead, he carefully took Autumn’s hand to check its temperature. Only after confirming she wasn’t cold did The breathe a sigh of relief.
His gaze landed on the red marks on her neck, and his eyes hardened.
“Who did this?”
Owen’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was suffocatingly intense.
The crowd, still reeling from the shock of the Bennett Group’s CEO appearing at the party, shivered and was instantly jolted back to reality.
Everyone silently turned to look at Mars.
Their eyes darted between Mars, Autumn, and Owen, the thirst for drama practically overflowing..

“It was him.”
Autumn had no intention of covering for Mars. She pointed directly at him, lying half–dead on the floor.
“I exposed the truth about his affair and how he tried to swap the embryos. He was humiliated and flew into a rage, tried to strangle me, and then planned to pin his own cheating on me.”
Autumn was just stating the facts.
But the delayed terror of being choked by Mars crept in, making her voice tremble.
It broke Owen’s heart to see her like this.
Pulling her into his arms, Owen gently patted her back, his touch firm and reassuring. “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Miraculously, Autumn actually did calm down.
His embrace was so warm.
Autumn felt a little awkward being so intimate with Owen in front of everyone.
Besides, she had a million questions about why he had suddenly appeared here.
But his presence was just too powerful. Autumn hesitated, then decided to wait until this was all over to ask him. For now, she’d just see what Owen was going to do.
“Mr. Bennett?”
Oliver Lopez of the Lopez Group stared in shock for a long moment before coming to his senses.
Seeing him protectively shielding Autumn with such intimacy, Oliver shamelessly sidled up to him and asked the question on everyone’s mind. “What a surprise to see you here! To what do we owe the pleasure?”

Chapter 191
“Oh, where are my manners? I forgot to introduce myself. I’m with the Lopez Group
Owen cut him off coldly. “I know who you are.”
A flicker of delight appeared in Oliver’s eyes, only to be extinguished when Owen continued with disgust, “You’re the one who forced Autumn to sign her shares in the Lopez Group back over to you. Yes, you made quite an impression.”
Oliver flinched.
“Th–that… Mr. Bennett, about that…”
Oliver wanted to explain, but the words died in his throat. He had no idea what to
say.
After all, he had done it, and the whole affair had been incredibly ugly.
“Mr. Bennett, why are you here?”
Lydia Lopez felt like her entire body was falling apart from being kicked earlier.
But the sight of the man she adored gave her strength. Leaning on her mother’s arm, she ignored her injuries and limped in front of Owen. “Are you here especially
for me?”
Even though Autumn already knew what a piece of work Lydia was.
She couldn’t help but roll her eyes at such a shameless question.
*Does she even know Owen? And she thinks he came all this way for her?*
*Narcissism is a disease, and she needs help!*
Owen found Lydia’s display cringey and didn’t even spare her a glance, his gaze landing back on Mars.
“I’ll have my lawyers handle the assault.”

Mars’s eyes went wide.
He’d felt a primal fear of Owen.
But the sight of him being so intimate with Autumn–the obvious impropriety. between them–sent a surge of jealousy through him. He forced himself to his feet and glared at Owen. “What right do you have to handle this for her?”
“This is between my wife and me. What does it have to do with you?”
Owen looked at Mars coldly. “I see I forgot to properly introduce myself.”
Owen’s gaze swept past Mars to the rest of the room.
“I am Autumn Lopez’s fiancé. And I am the father of the child she’s carrying.”
The words dropped like an atomic bomb in the hall.
Everyone’s minds went blank, unable to tell if this was reality or some bizarre
dream.
“The baby… Autumn’s baby is yours?”
Mars was incredulous. “That’s impossible! You must be lying!”
Owen didn’t waste any more words. The results of the paternity test were displayed for all to see.
He looked at Mars, his voice laced with meaning. “Actually, I should thank you. If the person you hired hadn’t messed up, I never would have ended up with such at wonderful wife as Autumn.”
The words were a heavy slap across Mars’s face.
Mars had assumed that Autumn, pregnant with God–knows–who’s baby, would eventually come crawling back to him.
But now, not only had she found someone better, she was carrying the future heir to the Bennett Group. The jealousy was eating him alive.
And Lydia was right there with him, nearly insane with jealousy.
“This can’t be happening! It’s absolutely impossible!”
Lydia lunged forward to shut off the display, unable to accept that Auturnn was actually pregnant with Owen’s child.
Why did all the good things in the world happen to Autumn?
The man Lydia had looked down on married Autumn and became a rising star in the business world, and their company, Cloudbreak Corporation, had its value skyrocket after going public.
She had schemed and plotted to snag Mars, only for him to cheat on her almost
immediately.
Lydia had been consoling herself with the thought that even though her life sucked right now, at least Autumn was worse off–pregnant with a stranger’s baby, betrayed by her husband, and with no family to fall back on. She was supposed to be the truly pathetic one.
Who knew that Autumn would make this stunning comeback, not only starting her own company but now getting engaged to Owen Bennett.
Had fate gone blind?
How could something so improbable happen to Autumn?
Why couldn’t something this good ever happen to her?
“Well, I’ll be damned! Autumn, sweetie, why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“I always said you were a lucky one, but I never expected you to make such a huge splash.”
The moment Oliver Lopez heard that Autumn was carrying Owen Bennett’s child, his whole demeanor changed. It was as if all the disgusting things he’d done in the past had never happened. He put on a shameless, doting smile for Autumn. “Oh,
Chapter 101
Autumn, you truly are the Lopez family’s most promising daughter. The future of our family rests on your shoulders now.”
Autumn gave no reaction to his words, but Owen shot him a look of disgust.
“Didn’t the Lopez Group already kick Autumn out? What’s this, Mr. Lopez? Are you
planning to have Autumn acquire the company?”
