“This…” Oliver’s jaw twitched, and he ground his back teeth so hard they might
crack.
He was Autumn’s father. He’d thought Owen Bennett would at least show him.
some respect, but the man’s words were even more cutting than Autumn’s, shutting him down so completely he couldn’t get a single word out.
Mrs. Lopez and Lydia looked just as grim.
The day’s events had been a series of shocks, one after another, and they simply couldn’t accept it.
This was supposed to be Lydia’s big moment, the script she had written for
herself!
Now, all the rewards had gone to Autumn. Mrs. Lopez and her daughter felt as if their hearts were being seared in a frying pan, a torment that made them want to go mad, but they didn’t even know where to begin.
“If that wasn’t your intention, Mr. Lopez, then get out of the way.”
From the moment Autumn met Owen, she had known him as a cold, reserved man whose affection was hidden in the details, in quiet, tender gestures.
She had no idea he had a side like this.
In that moment, he was leveraging the full power of his status and family background, leaving everyone in the room too intimidated to even breathe. Owen. had taken complete control of the situation.
“Mr. Bennett, what brings you here today?”
Someone in the crowd who was actually on speaking terms with Owen couldn’t re sist asking. They were genuinely curious why a man with his temperament would. do something like this, and though they had their suspicions, they had to ask.

Owen glanced at the man, his gaze softening slightly.
“I heard my fiancée was being bullied. I’m here to have her back.”
Owen’s words confirmed everyone’s suspicions. A ripple went through the crowd as people started exchanging glances, their minds racing.
“No-”
Mars still couldn’t accept it.
“This has to be fake!”
The world was twisting into something unrecognizable before his very eyes.
He looked at Autumn, clinging to a final, desperate shred of hope. “Autumn, tell me, none of this is real, right?”
“We were so good together! The baby you’re carrying for us–it’s mine and Lydia’s, not yours and someone else’s, right?”
“I’m begging you, Autumn, don’t scare me like this. It’s my birthday today! You promised you had a surprise for me, didn’t you?”
“How could this happen? You just hired someone to act this out, to scare me, to get back at me for cheating with Lydia, right? Okay, Autumn, I get it. I was wrong. I was wrong about everything. I’m admitting it. I swear to you, I’ll never do anything like that again. Just forgive me. Please, Autumn?”
This was, without a doubt, the most humiliating moment of Mars’s life since he’d made it big.
Everyone watched his pathetic, groveling display, seeing a man who was one step away from getting on his knees and begging for Autumn’s forgiveness.
Lydia was seething.
Autumn already had everything–she’d stolen the life that was supposed to be hers
Chapter 102
-and yet Mars was still acting this pathetic.
The thought that this spineless loser was the man she had worked so hard to steal made Lydia want to walk over and kick him.
“That’s enough!”
Mars’s parents rushed in from outside.
They’d had a second child when Mars was in high school, and after that, their entire world had revolved around their younger son. They’d taken a hands–off approach with Mars, their older son, doing little more than covering his living expenses while remaining completely uninvolved in his life.
A flicker of surprise crossed Autumn’s eyes when she saw them.
When she and Mars were dating, she had suggested meeting his parents several
times.
Mars had always refused. At the time, Autumn had assumed the timing wasn’t right and worried he’d think she was desperate to get married, so she eventually dropped it.
Mars never brought it up again.
His parents didn’t even show up for their wedding, just sent a gift with a
messenger.
The day after the wedding, Autumn had met them over a video call.
Even then, Autumn had sensed a strange distance in how they treated Mars and guessed that he probably had a strained relationship with his family.
That realization made Autumn pity him even more, and she became even kinder and more patient with him.
As time went on, she discovered that a marriage free from meddling in–laws was wonderfully liberating, and she never brought up the topic of his parents again.
Chapter 192
She hadn’t expected them to show up on his birthday–not just late, but right in the
middle of this chaotic mess.
“Mom? Dad? What are you guys doing here?” Mars was stunned to see hist
parents.
But his shock quickly turned to raw fury when he saw the teenage boy they were protectively shielding behind them. He completely lost it.
“What are you doing bringing him here? Did you come to laugh at me?”
“Get that little bastard out of here! I don’t want to see him!”
Mars was a complete wreck.
First, his affair was exposed. Then, he learned that his own scheme had backfired and pushed Autumn right into Owen’s arms. Now, seeing the favored younger brother who had once plunged him into a deep depression, he felt like he was
about to shatter.
But no one in the room pitied him.
All of this was his own doing.
After all, no one had forced him to cheat.
His anguish and breakdown weren’t because he was sorry; they were because his vicious plan had failed and been exposed to the world.
“You shut your mouth!”
Hugo stepped forward and slapped Mars hard across the face.
“That is your own brother, and you call him a bastard! If we’d known you were such
a clueless fool, we should have just locked you up at home!”
Whatever was left of Mars’s sanity finally shattered.
“Then why didn’t you? I really don’t get it! If I were a girl and you wanted a son,

fine, I’d understand. But you already had me, a son, so why did you have to have
another one?”
“You gave him all your love! What was 1?”
“All these years, I worked my ass off. I took my company public. I became this. successful, and you never even called to congratulate me! What do you want? Why do you never, ever see me?”
It was the first time Hugo and his wife had ever heard Mars say these things. A stunned look flashed across their faces before they recovered, their expressions hardening with disappointment. “So, you’ve been hung up on this all these years.”
Mrs. Wright gave the other guests an apologetic smile, her voice soft but firm. “I’m so sorry you all had to see this embarrassing scene. We only just found out today was our son’s birthday party, and it was already rude of us to arrive so late. I never imagined this disgraceful son of ours would have caused so much trouble…”
“We’ve already settled the bill. Please, help yourselves. Eat, drink, and don’t let our son ruin your evening.”
“Autumn–Ms. Lopez, could we please have a word with you in private?”
