Autumn frowned. She stared at the man for a solid ten seconds before it clicked: he was one of Mars Wright’s childhood friends.
Back when she and Mars were dating in college, his friend Greg went to the same school, so they’d seen a lot of him.
After graduation, Greg’s family had forced him to move back home and get a government job, so he left the city.
Every year since, Mars would make time to go visit Greg and their other friends for
a reunion.
Rumor had it that Greg and Mars had once been into the same girl and nearly
came to blows over it.
Greg’s departure was supposedly tied to that incident.
Some said their lifelong friendship was shattered. Others claimed graduation was
just a natural parting of ways, and even the strongest bonds fade over time.
At first, Autumn had assumed she was the “homewrecker” everyone whispered about. To avoid giving Mars the wrong idea, she never even mentioned Greg’s
name in front of him again.
Later, when Mars started going to those annual reunions, Autumn never asked a
single question.
After Cloudbreak went public, she was completely swamped. Between running the company and starting to try for a baby, she was spinning like a top every single day.
Mars, busy with his affair with Lydia, barely spoke to her anymore, so her memory
of Greg had faded to almost nothing.
“Mr. Gong. It’s been a long time.”

Chapter 248
She knew him, after all. Even without Mars connecting them, they were still
alumni.
Autumn was a classy person. She wouldn’t just pretend not to recognize someone
she hadn’t seen in years.
But while she wanted to be civil, Greg clearly had other plans.
“Oh, wow. I’m so honored you’d even greet me.”
“Who doesn’t know you’re the great CEO Autumn Lopez now? So, how does it feel? Clawing your way to the top over your ex–husband’s dead body?”
“I always said a simple guy like Mars was no match for you. Back in college, you were already a master networker, a classic social climber who’d do anything to get
ahead.”
“It was just his bad luck that he fell for you so hard, giving you the chance to destroy him.”
“If it had been me, you wouldn’t have gotten a damn thing in the divorce!”
“You wasted years of his life, and in the end, you had to ruin his reputation too.
‘The cruelest heart belongs to a woman‘–that’s you, Autumn Lopez!”
The accusations came out one after another, as if Autumn were some
unforgivable monster.
Autumn’s expression was strange as she listened.
“Did Mars tell you all this?”
Greg hadn’t been back in this city for years. Autumn didn’t believe for a second these were just rumors he’d picked up.
After all, while their social circles weren’t identical, at least half the people Mars
knew trusted her more than him.

Chapter 248
There was no way they would have twisted the truth like this for Greg.
The only reason he’d be saying this was because Mars, trying to save face, had spun a story for his old friends, painting himself as the victim.
Autumn had seen how shameless Mars could be, but she never thought he’d sink
this low.
Her, waste his life?
That bastard had planned to use her as a baby–making machine for his and Lydia’s
child–a debt she hadn’t even begun to settle with him!
“Well, you can try that out when you get a divorce,” Autumn said coolly, not bothering to get into it with him.
Greg snapped. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
He strode toward her.
The commotion alerted the staff, and someone immediately stepped between
Greg and Autumn.
“Sir, can I help you with something?”
Autumn was in maternity clothes. Although her belly wasn’t huge and she didn’t look bloated, Greg looked dangerous, so the employee quickly shielded her.
“Ma’am, are you okay?”
Autumn gave the employee a gentle smile. “I’m fine, thank you.”
Greg hadn’t expected to be stopped. His face flushed a deep, angry red. “Why are you holding me back? I know her!”
“We’re just talking!”
The staff member raised an eyebrow, their gaze skeptical. “Sir, if you have something to say, you can say it from there.”

Chapter 248
Seeing them form a tight circle around Autumn, Greg looked ready to explode.
“You’ve got some nerve, Autumn Lopez! You played with my friend’s heart, divorced him when he wasn’t looking, and immediately hooked up with another guy. How can any woman be so shameless!”
Hearing this, the onlookers frowned.
Gossip was always fun, but Greg had an aggressive look, and Autumn’s composure was so perfect that no one immediately jumped to the conclusion that she was some kind of slut.
