“Autumn, please, whatever you do, don’t tell him I’m here!” Nina pleaded, pressing her hands together. “You know his temper. If he finds out I was laughing at him, he’ll get me back for it. I’m begging you!”

darted around. “Yes.”

“Will you be back for dinner? We were thinking of eating out, so we probably won’t be home.”

“That works out perfectly. I have a business dinner tonight. You and Nina have fun.”

“She can be careless, so make sure you take care of yourself.”

Autumn felt a blush creep up her cheeks.

“I will.”

“Alright, I have a meeting to get to,” Owen said. “Call me if you need anything.”

Seeing that he really wasn’t going to bring up the text, Autumn breathed another sigh of relief.

“Okay.”

Just as Owen said, “I’m hanging up now,” and Autumn was about to reply, he suddenly added, “And you really can use the supplementary card for whatever you want.”

“Autumn, what’s mine is yours.”

It felt like something had just exploded in Autumn’s head.
