Lydia’s eyes went wide “Mars, you

Mars’s face darkened completely.

“Did you hit the horn?”

They had started things in the parking spot, so only Lydia could have possibly bumped the horn.

Lydia had been completely lost in the moment and had no idea what happened. When Mars asked, she was at a loss for

words

Mars felt himself go completely soft. No matter how hard he tried, there was no response. He felt like his life was over.

“Damn it!”

Of all the times for this to happen… Does a guy like me really need to see a urologist?

“Mars, don’t scare me!” Lydia looked like her world was ending. “Let me take a look.”

As she tried to sit up, Mars pushed her back down. “Enough! Isn’t this embarrassing enough? Hurry up, get your clothes

on before someone comes over!”

That racket was so loud, anyone with a short fuse would definitely come to investigate.

If they were caught doing that here, they’d be infamous.

The reality of the situation finally hit Lydia, and she scrambled to find her clothes.

Mars’s clothes were only half–off, so he just had to straighten them out. He sat up in the driver’s seat, completely baffled as to how the horn could have gone off so suddenly.

“I–I’m ready.”

Lydia said timidly, her eyes still hazy and unfocused, her lips plump and glistening. The sight of her made Mars forget

everything else.

“Let’s go back first.”

Mars felt a stir in his groin and a flash of joy lit up his eyes.

He just needed to test it out again to see if it still worked. He refused to believe one little scare could make him go limp.

Lydia had no idea if she was to blame, but she was terrified that Mars’s issue. would ruin her future happiness, so she

was incredibly cooperative.

The car sped out of the parking lot, and the two of them headed straight for a hotel.

Meanwhile, Autumn Lopez had been tracking Mars’s every move using the dashcam feed and her car’s GPS.

She waited patiently, estimating how much time they’d need. Then, for show, she made a few calls to Mars, hanging up immediately to create the illusion that she couldn’t reach him before dialing 911.

The police used the vehicle information she provided to find Mars and Lydia at the hotel, just as they were about to go for

round two.

sudden knocking at the door instantly brought back the memory of the deafening car horn. This time, Mars didn’t even flinch, he just went rigid and fell back onto the bed

Feeling him go useless in an instant, Lydia burst into heartbreaking sobs.

“Mars Mars, don’t scare me…”

Mars was so spooked he curled up into a ball on the bed, hugging himself, looking utterly pathetic.

Lydia wanted to comfort him, but the knocking grew louder. She had no choice but to tell Mars to get dressed while she threw on a bathrobe and went to open the door.

“Police. We received a report that a vehicle belonging to Ms. Autumn Lopez has been stolen. Did you drive this car here?”

The officer read out the license plate number.

Lydia’s eyes widened. “That’s my sister’s car! We didn’t steal it, officer!”

Mars, still reeling from the massive blow to his ego, now heard he was being accused of grand theft auto. His composure completely shattered.

“Who says I’m a car thief?”

“That’s my car!”

Seeing Mars losing control, Lydia was afraid he’d get into a fight with the police. She quickly wrapped her arms around

him. “Mars, calm down, it’s just a misunderstanding. Autumn was probably just upset you came to see me and called the

cops to scare us.”

Before Mars could curse Autumn out, the officer spoke again, all business. “The owner stated her car was parked in her company’s garage and was driven away a short while ago. Her phone kept sending her notifications about strange noises inside the vehicle. She tried calling her husband, but he didn’t pick up, so she chose to report it. Since you two claim to

know the owner, can you provide any proof?”

“Alternatively, you can both come with us to speak with the owner in person and clear this up.”

Normally, procedure would require taking them to the station. But considering the owner was pregnant and hospitalized, the officer suggested a face–to–face confrontation instead.

The color drained from both Mars’s and Lydia’s faces.

“No… we can’t do that!”

Otherwise, everyone would find out he was shacked up in a hotel with Lydia.

Damn it! Mars belatedly realized he must have taken the wrong car.

This was bad. The dashcam must have recorded everything with Lydia. If he faced Autumn with the police, the whole thing would blow up in his face.

“Officer, the owner and I are, in fact, married. Look, I can show you our marriage certificate.”

“This whole thing is just a misunderstanding. I’ll explain it to my wife myself. I’m sorry to have wasted your time. I’ll be sure to make a donation to the department to show my gratitude.”

The cops weren’t idiots. A glance at the room told them exactly what was going on. But they were professionals and didn’t show any reaction, just followed protocol. “We still need to communicate with the reporting party about the case.”

The meaning was clear: they were going to report exactly who they found with the car.
