Mr. and Mrs. Bennett were beaming.

“Last time, I told Owen to pick out some jewelry for you, but that boy insisted you pick it yourself. The set you chose was pretty, but the quality was just average. How about this–let’s you and I go shopping another day, and I’ll buy you another

set.”

Autumn was about to refuse, but Mrs. Bennett cut her off. “Don’t say no. This is just a little something from your mom.”

That left Autumn with nothing to say.

“Alright, alright, you two have been chatting with my wife for long enough. It’s our

turn now, don’t you think?”

“You little rascal! You’ll have your wife to yourself forever. You’re getting jealous because we’re borrowing a little of her time now?”

Mr. Bennett pulled his indignant wife to her feet. “Okay, it is getting late. Let’s go get some rest.”

Mrs. Bennett finally rose, albeit reluctantly. “Fine, then it’s settled. I’ll come find you tomorrow, and we’ll go shopping together.”

Autumn nodded in agreement.

Only then did a satisfied Mrs. Bennett leave with her husband.

Autumn walked them to the door. Before she could even turn around, an arm

wrapped around her waist, and a kiss landed on the crown of her head.

“What are you doing?”

Autumn Lopez noticed the house staff were still bustling around, and she saw

them snickering at what Owen Bennett was doing.

She felt a little shy and turned, her gaze meeting his eyes, which were filled with

tenderness.

Owen was genuinely gorgeous.

His face was practically a divine masterpiece.

Even though Autumn wasn’t one to judge by looks, she was still stunned by his face every time she saw it.

Thinking that this perfect man would soon be her husband, Autumn silently cursed her past self for being so clueless.

If she had known Owen would one day be her other half, she would have exercised

“Did that scare you?” Owen asked, seeing the tip of her nose and the corners of her eyes were still red. She looked as endearing as a kitten. He leaned in and gently kissed the corner of her eye.

Autumn felt his affection, and her heart completely melted.

“Not really. It just feels… surreal.”

Owen chuckled. “Surreal?”

He never would’ve expected her to come up with a word like that.

“Yeah, it’s totally surreal.”

“And I never expected your parents to be completely okay with my past, let alone the scene Mars just caused.”

“Owen, honestly… I’m a little jealous of you.”

Owen raised an eyebrow. “Quite a jump in topics, don’t you think?”

Why on earth was she suddenly jealous of him?

“It’s just… I’m so jealous that you have such amazing parents.”

Autumn thought of her own family, and her expression grew dim and a little

anxious.

“Can I really marry into a family this wonderful?”

Hearing that made his heart ache for her even more.

“Why not? Autumn, don’t sell yourself short. You’re an incredible person, and you deserve the best of everything.”

In the past, Autumn had always felt like a kite.

She tried so hard to fly high, but she was always held back by the Lopez family and Mars Wright.

Whenever she tried to break the string, they would pop up and say, “We’ve been so

good to you, how could you just abandon us to go soar on your own?”

“Besides, Autumn, you’re a woman. Your job is to take care of your husband and your home. Leave building a career to the men. No matter how much you accomplish, if you don’t have a child of your own, people will laugh at you and Mars. They’ll say you two worked your whole lives for nothing, with no one to even take care of you when you’re old.”

Autumn used to scoff at those kinds of comments.

She never thought Mars could be so vicious.

She’d felt grateful more than once for having met Owen.

It felt like fate that her and Owen’s child was now growing inside her.

together.
