The Day I Quit Him (Autumn and Mars) novel Chapter 293

The Decision to Marry

What are you doing?

Autumn Lopez noticed the house staff were still bustling around, and she saw them snickering at what Owen

Bennett was doing.

She felt a little shy and turned, her gaze meeting his eyes, which were filled with tenderness.

Owen was genuinely gorgeous.

His face was practically a divine masterpiece.

Even though Autumn wasn’t one to judge by looks, she was still stunned by his face every time she saw it.

Thinking that this perfect man would soon be her husband, Autumn silently cursed her past self for being so

clueless.

If she had known Owen would one day be her other half, she would have exercised her rights much sooner.

Then she wouldn’t be stuck in this awkward, frustrating limbo.

Did that scare you?Owen asked, seeing the tip of her nose and the corners of her eyes were still red. She looked as endearing as a kitten. He leaned in and gently kissed the corner of her eye..

Autumn felt his affection, and her heart completely melted.

Not really. It just feelssurreal.

Owen chuckled. Surreal?

He never would’ve expected her to come up with a word like that.

Yeah, it’s totally surreal.

I never imagined your mom was the famous actress, Charlotte Morgan.

And I never expected your parents to be completely okay with my past, let alone the scene Mars just caused.

Owen, honestlyI’m a little jealous of you.

Owen raised an eyebrow. Quite a jump in topics, don’t you think?

Why on earth was she suddenly jealous of him?

It’s justI’m so jealous that you have such amazing parents.

Autumn thought of her own family, and her expression grew dim and a little anxious.

Can I really marry into a family this wonderful?

Hearing that made his heart ache for her even more.

Why not? Autumn, don’t sell yourself short. You’re an incredible person, and you deserve the best of everything.

In the past, Autumn had always felt like a kite.

She tried so hard to fly high, but she was always held back by the Lopez family and Mars Wright.

Whenever she tried to break the string, they would pop up and say, We’ve been so good to you, how could you just abandon us to go soar on your own?

Besides, Autumn, you’re a woman. Your job is to take care of your husband and your home. Leave building a career to the men. No matter how much you accomplish, if you don’t have a child of your own, people will laugh at you and Mars. They’ll say you two worked your whole lives for nothing, with no one to even take care of you when you’re old.

Autumn used to scoff at those kinds of comments.

But as she got older, and with Mars constantly nagging her, she was eventually brainwashed into planning for a child.

She never thought Mars could be so vicious.

She’d felt grateful more than once for having met Owen.

It felt like fate that her and Owen’s child was now growing inside her.

They had been strangers, but this child, this blood they shared, brought their lives together.

They got to know each other, fell in love, and now they had chosen one another, determined to build a future together.

Before Owen said all this, a part of Autumn was still hesitanta shadow cast by her failed marriage and the shackles of her family.

But after hearing his words, she wasn’t afraid of anything anymore.

She should try to let go of those old, toxic thoughts and habits,

The truth was, just as Owen said, she was exceptional now.

Stream Cloud Technologies hadn’t gone public yet, but its growth was explosive.

Her management philosophy, in particular, was a perfect fit with the rest of the company.

Everyone shared a common goal, and the momentum was incredible.

Plus, with the Bennett Group’s investment, Autumn was practically making money in her sleep.

Even if she and Owen ended up parting ways when their contract was up, her assets by then would easily exceed a hundred million dollars.

With that kind of financial security, what did she have to be afraid of?

She had already earned a fortune that most people could only dream of.

And she was in complete control of her own life.

Thank you.

Just as the words left her mouth, Autumn remembered Owen’s rule. Before he could say anything, she leaned in and pressed her lips to his.

Owen’s eyes darkened as he cupped the back of her head, deepening the kiss.

Autumn was just getting into it when, out of the corner of her eye, she caught the staff snickering. She jolted and pushed Owen away.

Caught completely off guard, Owen nearly stumbled backward.

He steadied himself against the doorframe, a wounded look on his face. What’s wrong? Did I make you uncomfortable?

Autumn’s face instantly turned beet red.

You! Don’t say things that can be so easily misunderstood!

*Uncomfortable? Is that something you can just say out here?*

Seeing how flustered and shy she was, Owen realized what was happening and glanced around.

Sure enough, he saw them all trying to hide their laughter.

No wonder Autumn was so embarrassed.

Don’t you all have work to do?

The moment Owen spoke, everyone scattered.

Autumn groaned and slapped his arm, sighing helplessly. Now they’re definitely going to be gossiping about

us.

A smile tugged at Owen’s lips, but he faked a fierce tone. Who would dare laugh at us?

Besides, we’re a married couple. Isn’t it normal to be a little affectionate?

Who says we’re a married couple?

Autumn pouted, her eyes darting away. We’re not actually married yet, you know.
