The Day I Quit Him (Autumn and Mars) novel Chapter 294

That’s My Wife, She’s Amazing!

That’s My Wife, She’s Amazing!

Autumn raised an eyebrow. I can actually handle this myself.

It was just a change of address. It wasn’t a big deal.

It’s fine. My people are faster.

Owen was in a real hurry to make it official, pulling out his phone to make a call right away.

Autumn decided to just let him handle it.

After all, speeding up her split from the Lopez family was nothing but a good thing for her.

All set.

Less than five minutes later, Owen hung up.

He took Autumn’s hand, leading her upstairs while asking softly if she was tired from the day.

Autumn shook her head, then nodded.

You are tired? Why didn’t you say so earlier?

Before Autumn could explain, Owen swept her up into his arms.

Autumn yelped, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck. What are you doing?she chided.

Owen glanced down at her, and seeing only shyness on her face and no real fear, he said, Taking you back to

rest.

Autumn kicked her feet a little, then relaxed and buried herself in his embrace.

I’m not *that* tired, really.”

It’s just that I cried for so long earlier, I feel a little lightheaded.

My head’s just a bit fuzzy.

Owen gave her a look. Then why’d you have to cry?

Autumn stuck her tongue out playfully.

Who can control something like that?

Owen chuckled softly. If I’d known it would make you cry, I never would’ve let them see you.

Autumn tapped him. How could you do that?

Weren’t

you

the one who said I had to meet the inlaws sooner or later?

And if I hadn’t met them, I never would’ve known your mother is Charlotte Morgan.

That’s My Wife, She’s Amazing!

She was my childhood idol.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the actress Charlotte Morgan. You’re so lucky you got to grow up looking at

her face.

That’s why I got sick of looking at it a long time ago,Owen deadpanned, not even sparing his own mother. I seriously don’t get what you people see in her.

Autumn shot Owen a look, a hint of warning in her voice. Don’t you dare talk about my idol that way.

Owen was suddenly not having it.

What, are you two a family now and I’m the outsider?

Autumn didn’t dare answer that.

No matter what she said, this jealousy monster would get upset.

So she wisely kept her mouth shut.

But even that didn’t satisfy Owen.

You really like her that much?

Not understanding what he was getting at, Autumn nodded. I really, really do. I never even dreamed I’d get to meet her and talk to her.

She never imagined that now, not only had she spoken with her, but they’d become mother and daughterinlaw.

Charlotte Morgan is just as gentle as ever. People always said a woman who climbed that high in the industry either had to be brilliant herself or have a powerful sugar daddy, but I never believed that.

It was obvious she won everyone over with her acting.

It’s just a shame the industry is so toxic. The second a woman gets a little success, everyone assumes she must have someone backing her.

Then they start spreading sleazy rumors. It’s disgusting.

Owen’s lips curled into a smirk.

Well, they weren’t entirely wrong to say that.

Autumn froze. Huh?

Owen said, My mom and dad were childhood sweethearts.

Autumn instantly understood what he meant.

That’s My Wife, She’s Amazing!

At first, nobody supported my mom going into the entertainment industry, but my dad was behind her all the

way.

So it’s not wrong to say she was an industry plant, because her debut was a starring role in a film my dad

financed.

Later, as she started to get popular, a lot of people tried to sabotage her rise to fame by spinning their relationship into some kind of illicit affair.

People from prominent families never like that kind of gossip, so neither family stepped in to explain at the

time.

Autumn nodded. You’re right, they shouldn’t have. Otherwise, the public would have focused even more on Mom’s private life.

Owen was very pleased to hear how naturally Autumn said Mom.

Exactly.

Later, when she finally made it, no one dared to call her an industry plant anymore. She swept all the major domestic and international awards, becoming the first actress in history to win a grand slam. All that negativity turned into praise.

Then she gradually got tired of it. The market had become too shallow, nobody was interested in making real movies anymore, and the scripts were all trash. So she retired.

I can tell my mom isn’t done with acting, though.

But there really hasn’t been a movie script good enough to make her want to come back. My dad is always looking, but no luck so far.

Autumn suddenly remembered a screenplay she had written in high school.

But she quickly dismissed the thought.

It was just something she’d written for fun in high school. How could she dare show her amateur work to an awardwinning actress?

Especially with someone as rich as the elder Mr. Bennett. What kind of screenwriter or director couldn’t he

find?

If they still hadn’t found a suitable script, how could her shoddy little concept possibly attract the legendary

actress?

What is it?

Owen saw the complicated expression on Autumn’s face and asked curiously, What are you thinking about?

Autumn recounted her earlier conversation with his mother in a joking tone.
