“Why wouldn’t I?”
Owen raised an eyebrow, pinching Autumn’s nose in mock annoyance. “What? Do you really see me as some
kind of dictator who doesn’t give a damn about what you think?”
Autumn scrunched her nose, grabbing his hand to free herself.
“I never said that.”
Owen huffed. “But that’s what you meant when you asked.”
Autumn was exasperated.
“You’re twisting my words!”
That wasn’t what she meant at all.
She was just genuinely asking for his opinion.
“Besides, you haven’t even answered my question directly.”
Autumn’s gaze locked onto Owen. “If I decided to change careers, would you really support me?”
Neither Autumn nor Owen was short on money.
The only problem was that Autumn was getting further along in her pregnancy.
If she really wanted to chase her dream at this point, it meant starting from scratch.
Putting aside for a moment how much of a snake pit the entertainment industry was, the sheer time and energy it took to direct a good film–not to mention all the travel–was a huge obstacle for her to become a
director.
Whether it was to avoid being apart or for the sake of the baby, Autumn was pretty sure Owen wouldn’t agree to her changing careers right now.
Still, a small flicker of hope remained in her heart.
Maybe Owen was more understanding than other men? Maybe he, more than anyone, understood what
respect truly meant and would choose to lift her up instead of holding her back?
Autumn knew, deep down, that no matter what Owen said yes or no–it wouldn’t change how she felt about
him.
She would never hold it against him.
But honestly, if Owen did agree, she would be absolutely ecstatic.

“I’ll support you.‘
Owen didn’t disappoint her.
His answer was firm and clear.
To Autumn, his words were music to her ears.
“Really?”
Surprise was written all over her face.
Seeing her reaction, a pang of sympathy shot through Owen.
Just how constrained had Autumn’s life been before? That a simple sentence from him could make her this
happy.
“Of course, it’s real.”
“There’s no rule in the Bennett family about not entering the entertainment industry.”
“If you want to be a director, go for it.”
“But Autumn, there’s one thing you have to understand.”
Seeing Owen’s serious expression, Autumn grew serious too.
“Tell me.”
Owen gently stroked her hair.
“If you enter the industry, you absolutely won’t be able to start as some low–key indie director.”
“Setting everything else aside, you’re going to have a huge entourage.”
Autumn rested a hand on her belly, understanding what he meant.
In other words, they would absolutely support her dream.
But she would also have to accept the protection the Bennetts would provide.
Everyone would know she was a director with powerful backing and connections, so she wouldn’t be able to start from zero like other newcomers.
She’d probably face mockery and scorn from the very beginning.
And people would be biased when watching her work.
If her film was a huge success, they would say, “Of course it was, look at her connections. What’s the point of being a director if she *can’t* succeed with that kind of backing?”

And if her film failed, the ridicule would be enough to drown her.
Not to mention, the entertainment industry was a place with constant, intense public exposure.
Haters and paid trolls were everywhere.
If you didn’t have a thick skin, it was definitely not a world for the faint of heart.
“I need to think about it.”
Initially, Autumn had just been testing the waters with Owen.
She never expected him to give her such a surprising answer.
It was his support that sparked her imagination.
For so many years, she had lived for others.
Just this once, she truly wanted to live for herself.
She wanted to see how far she could go if she followed her own ideas and choices.
“Okay.”
Owen kissed her forehead. “Don’t worry too much. The Bennetts will always have your back.”
Autumn just smiled and didn’t respond.
If she was going to do this, she was going to do it right and aim for the top.
She could accept a protection team from the Bennetts, but she didn’t want them to create a sanitized bubble
for her.
She wanted real feedback.
Owen understood her refusal from her silence and didn’t press the issue. He just smiled and said, “If you’re serious about getting into this industry, you should go chat with my mom more.”
”
“My mom has been in this business for ages; she’s one of the most experienced veterans out there. I’m sure she can give you a lot of advice.”
Autumn gave Owen a grateful smile.
She was so incredibly lucky to have found someone like Owen, who not only understood her but was also willing to see things from her perspective and think on her behalf.
It was the feeling of being treasured, utterly adored.
For Autumn, this was a completely new experience.
“Alright, time to rest. Don’t overthink it.”

Autumn nodded obediently, and they dropped the subject.
Mars Wright was rushed to the hospital.
