Margaret Bennett froze.
“You mean…”
Autumn Lopez pursed her lips, saying nothing.
Although the young girl’s story had moved her too, Autumn had been through the wringer in the business world. She knew people would stop at nothing to get what they wanted.
The girl had seemed genuine, but Autumn couldn’t shake the feeling that her speech was *too* smooth.
Would a normal person really unload all of that on their idol?
Wouldn’t you want to show them your best self?
But this girl… it felt like she had rehearsed the whole story, just waiting for the right moment to tell it.
Autumn sensed something was off, but she didn’t want to say it outright and crush Margaret’s spirit.
Margaret wasn’t young anymore, and it wasn’t worth it for her to get upset over people like this.
That’s why Autumn had only offered a gentle warning.
She was surprised to find that Owen was thinking the exact same thing.
Autumn and Owen exchanged a look, neither saying another word.
Margaret’s face darkened, her expression grim.
“Have someone look into it.”
Clearly, it had dawned on Margaret, too. Something was definitely off about that girl.
Thinking back, everything had been a little too seamless.
From the moment the girl recognized her to the way she launched into her story, there was no hesitation at all.
And she left so abruptly, without a hint of reluctance.
If she was truly a fan meeting her idol, wo
uldn’t she have tried to linger for a moment longer?
But the girl hadn’t even considered seeing them out.
“No need to investigate.”
Autumn took a deep breath and handed her phone to Margaret.
“The personalized autograph you gave her is already up for sale on eBay.”

Chapter 300
Autumn let out a cold laugh. “The girl’s got some nerve, I’ll give her that. Look at the price she’s asking.”
Owen glanced over, the corner of his mouth twitching.
“A hundred thousand dollars? Why not just rob a bank?”
“A hundred grand for a stupid signature? Is that even a thing? Would anyone actually buy it?”
Autumn pointed to the comments section below the listing.
“A lot of people with the same name want it.”
Margaret was speechless.
She was probably getting old, because she couldn’t make heads or tails of modern fan culture anymore.
Was a single signature really worth that much money?
With that kind of cash, they could have a few minor celebrities on retainer.
“That’s not even the worst part.”
Autumn frowned as she watched the post’s view count climb. “Because she described in detail how she got the autograph, everyone’s trying to track your movements now.”
“People online are already saying you staged the whole thing as a stunt to test the waters for a comeback.”
Margaret scoffed, half angry, half amused.
She did have that thought, but she had no intention of letting anyone know so soon.
The plan was still completely up in theair. If people found out and started generating all sorts of buzz, the situation could spiral out of control.
Besides, Margaret really didn’t want all the attention on her.
If she did make a comeback, it would be to support Autumn.
The main goal was to showcase Autumn’s talent.
If her own popularity exploded now, Autumn would get dragged through the mud just for being associated with her.
Her more extreme fans might even resurface, and that was the last thing they needed.
“I’ll handle this myself.”
Margaret gave Owen a direct order. “Both of you stay out of it.”
“And tell your father the same thing.”

Chapter 300
Owen knew his mother was a woman who knew her own mind, so he just nodded. “Got it.”
Since Owen had already agreed, Autumn didn’t try to persuade her either.
Today’s events had been a complete surprise.
But as a legendary actress who had once reached the pinnacle of her profession, Margaret had a wealth of
experience in crisis management.
Neither Autumn nor Owen was worried she couldn’t handle it.
In fact, a small part of Autumn was looking forward to it.
She wanted to see the legendary actress in action.
After returning to the villa, Margaret went straight to her room to make some calls.
Mr. Bennett had an endless stream of social events to attend lately, and Margaret had been bored living alone in the old family mansion, so she had moved in with Autumn and Owen.
The villa was certainly big enough, so when Margaret had asked, Autumn had agreed immediately.
Technically, it was Owen’s house, so Margaret could have moved in without even asking, and it would have
been fine.
But she had asked politely, and Autumn, of course, returned the courtesy
It was because they both respected each other’s boundaries that the two, once strangers, had been able to become like mother and daughter so quickly.
“You bought all this today?”
Owen followed Autumn into their room and walked over to the shopping bags on the floor, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Are you tired?”
Autumn nodded, then shook her head.
“My legs are a little sore, but I’m fine otherwise.”
She was in good shape, and she hadn’t had much morning sickness, so she felt pretty good.
“Let me give you a massage.”
Owen led Autumn to the bed,
“You know how?”
A man of Owen’s status knew how to give massages?
