The Don's Orphan Wife Is A Mafia Empire Princess (Elara) novel Chapter 64

Chapter 53 You’re the Blind One

“You’re out there flaunting your affection with your childhood sweetheart, while at home, Evelyn has to cater to your every whim. What’s the difference between her and a free babysitter?”

Before Ethan Miller could respond, Grayson Hayes added another cutting remark.

“Oh, there is a difference-at least a babysitter won’t bear your child, but Evelyn will.”

“The son she nearly died giving birth to is just another tool for you to appease her, leaving her life in shambles, while even your son has abandoned her.”

At this, Evelyn lowered her head, her eyes stinging.

She still felt a pang of regret for William Miller, just as Grayson Hayes said. William Miller was the embodiment of her hopes for a beautiful life, but he no longer wanted her.

When Leah Foster appeared, Evelyn had seriously considered divorce.

But William Miller was still young and looked up to Ethan Miller as a father.

So, Evelyn chose to endure in silence, never imagining that even William would choose someone else.

Upon hearing these words, Ethan Miller momentarily lost himself, but instinctively wanted to deny it.

“That’s not true; it’s Evelyn who is harsh with our son; she can’t even teach him anything.”

“I represent the Miller family; my partner has to be presentable. I’m doing this for the Miller family, to provide better conditions for her and William.”

At that moment, Ethan Miller was so desperate to defend himself that he overlooked Grayson Hayes’s repeated mention of

Evelyn.

His mind was in turmoil, wanting to assert that he wasn’t to blame.

Isn’t it the norm for men to work outside while women manage the home?

He worked hard, didn’t he, to provide a better life for Evelyn and William Miller?

That’s right; he hadn’t done anything wrong!

It was all Grayson Hayes, who didn’t know anything yet spouted nonsense!

“Grayson Hayes, who do you think you are? You think you understand? You aren’t married and don’t have children, so you can’t possibly grasp my struggles.”

With that, Ethan Miller stepped forward, instinctively reaching for Evelyn’s hand.

“Evelyn, it’s really not what you think; Leah Foster and I are just playing a part. You are my only wife.”

Evelyn looked at Ethan Miller, still in denial, and instinctively took a step back.

Grayson Hayes moved to block her path, taunting him.

“You can’t even muster up a single truth. What kind of man are you?”

“Alright, since you claim this is for Evelyn and William, let me ask you: What do they like to eat? What do they wish for?”

Ethan Miller bit his lip, wanting to answer but suddenly found his mind blank.

What do Evelyn and William Miller like?

How was he supposed to know?

He instinctively shot back, “I don’t know. Do you?”

Grayson Hayes appeared to relish Ethan Miller’s cluelessness, launching into a monologue.

“Evelyn loves spicy food, adores the ocean, savors snow, enjoys anime, dreams of seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland, and her greatest wish is to be a great doctor who saves lives.”

“William Miller currently loves playing video games and aspires to be an esports player. He likes Coke and fried chicken, though they’re not great for his digestive system. When he was younger, his biggest wish was to go to an amusement park with his mom and dad.”

“The reason Evelyn keeps a tight rein on William is that he knows he lacks self-control. He asked her to do this when he was little. Last year, William wished for his mom to be happy for life.”

After delivering this, he shot Ethan Miller a derisive glance.

“Ethan Miller, you know nothing, so what right do you have to dominate Evelyn? She puts you first because she loves you. She changed her tastes for you, curbed her temperament, and even turned down the opportunity to study abroad with her mentor. And you? What have you done?”

“You turned her from a carefree girl into a melancholy woman, confining a brilliant doctor to a mundane life. You even let the

domestic help bully and humiliate her. What gives you the right to keep her?”

The more Grayson Hayes spoke, the angrier he became, almost wishing he could kill Ethan Miller.

God knows how much he hurt for Evelyn when he saw her files.

Standing behind Grayson Hayes, Evelyn stared at him, warmth flooding her heart.

She never expected Grayson Hayes would go to such lengths for her.

Her fingers trembled, and her vision blurred with unshed tears.

Until this moment, she believed her past didn’t matter, but hearing Grayson Hayes acknowledge her pain made her suddenly

feel sad.

It turned out she wasn’t numb to her suffering; she had simply tucked those memories away, waiting for time to help her heal

her wounds alone.

At this moment, her heart finally found peace, a sense of belonging.

Ethan Miller stared blankly at Grayson Hayes, a flicker of struggle and anguish crossing his face.

But instinctively, he dismissed it and began to loudly defend himself.

“I’m busy making money; I don’t have time for these trivial matters!”

His gaze turned colder, accusatory eyes fixing on Evelyn.

“You know all this so well; it looks like you and Grayson have been in cahoots. Evelyn, how can you be so fickle and not feel guilty about me?”

Evelyn: ??

Evelyn was momentarily at a loss and instinctively responded.

“Ethan Miller, are you alright? With such a vivid imagination, why don’t you become a screenwriter? This is far more entertaining than any of those cliché love stories!”

Some people truly never reflect on their mistakes.

For the first time, Evelyn felt she didn’t know Ethan Miller nearly well enough.

Every time she thought he couldn’t possibly stoop lower, he always proved her wrong with his actions.

You’re mistaken; this is just my standard operation.

Evelyn let out a heavy sigh and boldly issued her ultimatum.

“Ethan Miller, get out of my house. I don’t want to see you again.”

Ethan Miller, of course, didn’t want to leave and retorted mockingly.

“What? Did I hit a nerve? Evelyn, you keep saying how I treat Leah, but in reality, you’re the one who’s been unfaithful.”

Evelyn didn’t want to explain anymore; she finally understood.

You can never wake someone who pretends to be asleep.

Seeing Evelyn fall silent, Ethan assumed it was her being embarrassed by his revelation, which only fueled his rage.

He smirked at both Ethan Miller and Evelyn, shamelessly declaring,

“Let me leave, then Grayson Hayes must leave with me.”

As long as he was present, the two shameless lovers would never share the same space!

Before Evelyn could respond, Grayson Hayes readily agreed.

“Fine, let’s leave together.”

Evelyn felt a flicker of worry, but Grayson Hayes gave her a reassuring look, grabbing Ethan Miller’s arm as they walked out together.
