Snowy looked really weak. It was obvious to anyone.

Leeanne was so worried, she had no idea what to do.

Finally, Leeanne was so desperate that she asked the red–billed blue magpic for help. “Little Blue, do you have any idea what’s wrong with Snowy?”

Little Blue flapped its wings. “It’s dead. It’s dead! Just roast it already.”

Leeanne gently stroked Little Blue’s wing. “Little Blue, Snowy’s not dead yet. Do you know how to save it?”

Little Blue started freaking out. “It’s gonna die. It’s gonna die! If you don’t roast it now, it’ll be wasted.”

Leeanne thought for a moment, then went to the mystical cherry grove, picked a cherry, cut it in half, and handed one piece to Little Blue, who was eyeing it eagerly. “How do I save it?” she asked.

Little Blue pecked at the cherry and squawked, “Hey, don’t blame me. I have no idea.”

Leeanne was speechless.

Where did it pick up all this nonsense?‘ she thought.

Just then, a tendril from the sea demon vine slipped in through the window and crawled up to the bed. “Master, asking Little Blue won’t help,” it said. “That bird’s pretty dumb, and its bloodline is messed up. Right now, it acts on instinct.

‘Sure, it can sense Snowy’s not doing well, but there’s no way it knows the real reason.”

Leeanne turned to the sea demon vine, her eyes full of hope. “Viney, do you know what’s going on?”

The sea demon vine’s tendril wobbled. “Nope, I don’t know either. But Snowy definitely gets what’s happening to itself. It’s way too tiny to talk to you. If you make a pet contract with it, you’ll be able to chat with it. Then you can ask it directly

A pet contract? Leeanne thought, a little taken aback.

She paused, thinking it over. She’d never heard of anyone actually making a pet contract. She had no clue how to do it. She thought, ‘Is it like in those cultivation stories, where one recites some spell or incantation?

‘Wait, this isn’t some cultivation story!

Leeanne sighed, feeling helpless. She brought the other half of the cherry to Snowy’s mouth. Snowy looked a bit more lively, struggled to take a couple of bites, then flopped down again, totally drained.

Little Blue was eyeing Snowy’s cherry the whole time. When Leeanne wasn’t paying attention, it grabbed it in one quick bite

Lecanne wasn’t in the mood to argue with Little Blue. She just opened up the trading hall, searched all over, but couldn’t find a single thing about pets.

She stopped bidding, holding back as that uneasy feeling in her gut kept getting stronger. ‘Something’s definitely not right here, Leeanne thought, growing more and more suspicious.
