The Double Drop Buff Surviving The Endless Ocean novel Chapter 153

Robin stood by the raft, waiting. Soon, a small boat approached.

On the boat stood a couple, clearly arguing about something. When they spotted Robin, their faces instantly soured.

Even though Robin didn’t have the intro guide on Apprentice 8 and Apprentice 9, he’d still invited them. He was determineri to show those players who’d been mocking him that he could pull this off, so he stepped forward to greet them without hesitation.

He’d always been lucky, and he was sure he could handle these two.

Apprentice 8 and Apprentice 9 stood there with sour faces, silent and refusing to step onto the raft. Robin took the initiative and said, “Welcome, honored guests.”

Apprentice 8 and Apprentice 9 just snorted and hopped onto the raft..

Apprentice 8 muttered reluctantly, “Sorry to trouble you, dear adventurer.”

Robin quickly replied, “No trouble at all. I’ve been looking forward to your arrival.”

Apprentice 9 scoffed coldly.

Then she turned to Apprentice 8 and whispered, “Hurry up, just go through the motions, and let’s get out of here. What’s so great about this shabby little raft?”

Robin’s expression faltered. They were muttering right in front of their host, not even caring if he overheard.

“These two disciples of Lucas really don’t seem to have much class,’ he thought. ‘Maybe this is just how they are.

Not daring to show any dissatisfaction, he said ingratiatingly, “I have some drinks and fruit here. Would you two like to take a break?

He’d grown some purple grapes, which were great for easing fatigue. But they hardly ever bore fruit. After all this time, hed only gotten one big bunch and one small bunch. He couldn’t bear to eat them and had only tasted two or three.

Now that the guests were here, he was willing to share, even though it hurt.

Apprentice 8 and Apprentice 9 sat down with cold faces, eyeing the shabby table with obvious disdain.

But when Robin brought over the big bunch of purple grapes, their eyes instantly lit up.

Apprentice 8 said with a haughty tone, “This is all you’re offering?”

Apprentice 9 scoffed, “You actually served this to guests? Is this how you treat your guests?”

Robin’s face paled, and he stammered, “Please try these first. I’ll get more right away.”

Robin still had some wild oranges and red berries lying around, but they tasted pretty bland. He didn’t dare to serve those to his honored guests. So, he had to head over to the trading hall instead.

Dried snacks were rare and ridiculously expensive, and there wasn’t any fresh fruit at all. In the end, he just bought some pistachios and cashews.

Each bag was tiny, so Robin bought two of each.

He really couldn’t afford to buy any more.

When he set the snacks down on the table, he was stunned for a moment. The whole bunch of grapes he’d just brought out was gone. Not even a trace of grape skin was left.

‘Did these two really eat the whole thing, skins and all?‘ Robin wondered.

Not daring to waste any time, he quickly set out the dried snacks he’d just bought.

Apprentice 9 shot Robin a look of pure disdain. “Are you trying to insult us? It’s so little. Do you think you’re feeding birds or cats?”

Robin felt utterly defeated. Out here on the ocean, most players could barely fill their stomachs. Where was he supposed to find dried snacks or fruit?

Honestly, just having this much already made him one of the richer folks around.

Left with no other option, Robin reluctantly brought out his last small bunch of grapes.

In less than a minute, Apprentice 8 and Apprentice 9 had devoured the grapes. Their faces turned even nastier, and they glared at Robin as if he’d offended them. The air was thick with resentment.

Robin felt seriously creeped out by their glare.

He sighed. On a recent adventure, he’d picked up an apple that could boost Constitution by 1 point, but he hadn’t gotten around to eating it yet.

It was an item that boosted stats, definitely not something he should offer Apprentice S and Apprentice 9. But right now, he was out of options. If these two got pissed, who knew if they’d still teach him any skills?

Robin carefully washed the apple, but it looked pretty sad all by itself. With a heavy heart, he went ahead and washed up the awful–tasting wild oranges and red berries, too.

‘Who knows, maybe these two have some weird preferences and actually like this stuff, he thought.

Robin set the fruit down on the table.

As soon as Apprentice 9 saw the apple, she snapped, “Are you messing with me? I’m allergic to apples, and you actually brought one out for me? Get lost!”

With a swipe of her hand, Apprentice 9 knocked the apple and the rest of the fruit right onto the floor.

She shot up, furious, and growled at Apprentice 8, “Let’s go. Looks like we’re not welcome here.”

She was definitely hinting at something with that question.

Robin mused, ‘If the strawberries could actually please Apprentice 8 and Apprentice 9, then it’d be worth the trade

There was no other way. Everyone else only had wild oranges and random berries, which didn’t really taste good.

He glanced back at the two walking disasters and asked carefully, “Do you guys eat strawberries?”

Apprentice 9’s eyes lit up, but she acted unimpressed, saying, “I guess it’ll do.”

‘So they do like strawberries after all?‘ Robin thought.

Robin clenched his jaw and went through with the trade.

‘Leeanne’s getting a steal here, but that’s fine. I’ll get it all back from her sooner or later, Robin thought.

The trade went through in no time.

When Robin finally got his hands on the half–basket of strawberries, he was so pissed that he could barely keep his cool.

He was too worked up to really check it out, but when he finally did, he realized the basket was tiny. There were only five or six strawberries inside.

Luckily, the strawberries were big, bright red, and looked juicy. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have even dared to serve them.

Robin washed the strawberries and offered them respectfully.

Apprentice 8 and Apprentice 9 devoured the strawberries almost instantly.

Apprentice 9 ate the most, and after finishing, she whispered to Apprentice 8, “Is this guy broke? If he is, let’s bail. We’ve already played along enough.”

Apprentice 8 replied, “Hold on. Mr. Sullivan wants us to stick it out till the end.”

Robin was so angry that his lips quivered.

“These two are just plain awful, badmouthing me right to my face. They have no manners whatsoever, he fumed.

The couple glanced up at the sunset, then turned to Robin and said, “Hey, adventurer, can we have dinner at your place?”

‘Dinner? It’s barely past four. Robin thought. They just polished off all that fruit, and now they’re asking for dinner? Are their stomachs bottomless?”
