Chapter 37

Chapter 37

Leeanne didn’t waste a second. She hopped onto the regional channel and fired off a message: [Anybody got Unopened Wooden Chests or Locked Wooden Chests? Keys too. Shoot me a DM if you’re holding.]

Emmett was in her DMs before the message even had a chance to cool off. [Leeanne! I’ve got a key right here. Wanna trade it for one of those peaches? Check your inbox quick!]

Her private messages were always a total zoo, but ever since word spread about the attributeboosted cherries, it had turned into pure mayhem. She could barely scroll through the flood fast enough.

Since she and Emmett had traded before, his message was easy to spot near the top of the mess.

Emmett: [Girl, I’m seriously craving one of those cherries. I’ve got a regular key, and you can pick whatever else you want from my stash.]

Leeanne: [You got any other blueprints lying around?]

He went quiet for a moment, then replied: [No weapon ones, unfortunately. Just an iron pickaxe blueprint. That good enough?]

A pickaxe blueprint would actually be useful; it might trigger another Lucky Streak. Even so, the trade still felt a bit one- sided.

Leeanne: [Anything else to throw in? I already have the pickaxe blueprint. I’d take it, but it’s not really a gamechanger for me.]

Emmett was practically begging now. [Leeanne, come on, you’re way ahead of me in gear. Anything I’ve got, you’ve probably got better versions of, and anything rare I find, you somehow already have.

[What do you even need from a scrub like me? Look, I’ll owe you one. Next decent blueprint I score, it’s yours first, I promise.]

Before she could answer, he added: [Here, take these two pieces of pink cotton fabric. Girls usually love that kind of stuff, right?]

He sent the trade request without waiting for her okay. Two soft squares of pink cotton landed in her inventory.

Curtains. I could totally make some curtains with these! A spark of excitement hit her. She’d been wanting something to brighten up the shelter windows for a while now.

Leeanne: [Alright, you’ve got yourself a deal. But that IOU better be at least an intermediate weapon blueprint.]

Emmett: [You got it, no problem!]

And just like that, Emmett traded away one iron pickaxe blueprint, one regular key, two pieces of pink cotton fabric, and a firm promise for a midtier weapon blueprint, all for one attributeboosted cherry.

Trade complete.

[Pink Cotton Fabric x2, Iron Pickaxe Blueprint xl, Regular Key xl added to storage backpack.]

Leeanne pulled out the key and opened the locked chest.

[Opened chest: Received MidTier Seawater Filter Upgrade Card xl. Upgrades a basic seawater filter to midtier, doubling daily clean water output.]

Chapter #7

Holy crap, this is exactly what I needed Lecame thought

The trade suddenly felt like she’d come out way on top. Her two basic filters together only produced about half a gallon of clean water per day.

With cooking, cleaning pots, and everyday use, she was always stretching, every last drop.

This is huge, Leeanne thought

She was about to check her backpack again when a series of notifications started firing off one after another.

[Today’s Lucky Streak triggered: MidTier Seawater Filter Upgrade Card upgraded to HighTier. Daily dean water output x4.

HighTier card upgraded to Top Tier, Daily clean water output x8.

Top Tier card upgraded to Rare. Daily clean water output x16.1

The card had jumped all the way to rare.

Leeanne’s heart raced as she crunched the numbers. Sixteen times the original output.

A single basic filter produced roughly a quart per day. Sixteen times that meant around four gallons.

That was enough water to actually live without stressing.

She grabbed the nowgolden upgrade card from her pack and applied it to one of her filters.

A brilliant golden flash filled the shelter, and the filter grew to about five feet tall, its design suddenly sleek and way more refined.

The onegallon bucket sitting underneath now looked hilariously small.

Great. Now I’ll be swapping jugs every few hours. Kind of a pain, Leeanne grumbled to herself.

While she stood there frowning at the upgraded setup, her sea demon vine was doing its usual thing, waving tendrils gently around her.

When it noticed her deep in thought, it reached out and lightly tapped her shoulder with one vine, asking in its bright, curious voice, Master, what’s wrong?

Leeanne glanced over and smiled. Viney, can you help me out with something?

Anything at all!The vine sounded thrilled.

Leeanne went to the crafting table and quickly made a bunch of extra onegallon jugs. If you see this bucket getting full, could you swap it for an empty one?

Totally!the Vine chirped, eager to help.

Leeanne gave one of its main vines an affectionate pat. She’s basically just a toddler. I’ve got her hauling chests from the ocean, and now she’s on jug duty. Am I overworking her?

Hey, if it ever gets tiring, just tell me, okay? I’ll handle it myself, she added.

The Vine waved it off. Tiring? No chance! I’ve got nine main vines, and each one’s covered in little tendrils, I can do this with one tiny one and still have plenty left!

Chapter 87

MW

To show off, it split off a few smaller vines and twirled them proudly. Master, give me anything you need. I got

this stuff!

Leeanne laughed. You really are the best

Feeling reassured, she pulled out the pickaxe blueprint and crafted one

Lucky Streak kicked in again, giving her a raregrade pickaxe. She followed it up by making a finegrade shovel, just to ride

the streak.

Once everything was done, she let out a long, satisfied breath. Another day that had been exhausting but incredibly rewarding.

She was tempted to crash right then, but with a Lucky Streak this strong still active? No way she was wasting it yet.

Then a thought struck her. She grabbed another cherry from her pack and sent it to William

William was the kind of guy who always put her first. Whatever he found, he offered it to her before even thinking about keeping it himself.

Loyal, grateful, honest, and actually skilled. Guys like that were rare.

She didn’t mind helping him out a little.

William stared at the cherry in his inventory, completely floored.

He’d made a promise back when he was drowning: whoever saved him could have everything he ever found.

Leeanne had saved him, so all his loot should go to her.

But every time, she gave something back. She never just took.

And now this. He knew how insanely valuable those cherries were. The regional channel was full of people trying to butter her up, offering all sorts of gear just for a chance at one.

She hadn’t accepted any of it.
