Chapter 39: Your Journey begins, Young Mother Royal

I am back on my feet and pacing back and forth. “Who are these gods and why are they placing this great
responsibility on the mother royal?” I asked. Though it came out as more or less a demand.
“That would be us.” A deep voice boomed. It came with such power that it made me shiver. I turned to see two animals emerge from the shadows. A snow white owl that turned into a beautiful woman, though she
carried a shield and spear with power, she also had grace.
The other was a giant snake that had the most beautiful colors and the darkest black eyes.
It was like looking at a giant–sized San Francisco garter snake. With light teal mixed with black and bright copper all throughout its body… but where the real San Fansciso garter snake is mildly venomous because their neurotoxic saliva is too weak to harm humans… I can tell from the scent of the venom coming from
his fangs that he was very deadly.
The snake then morphed like tar into a man that was very muscular, but had all kinds of scars covering his tan body. His war helmet, which looked like it was from the Trojan war, shadowed his face and was also covered in scratches of all kinds, as was all of his armor.
I looked between the two of them and saw that they were like night and day. Almost like how Helios and Selene were. Two halves of the same coin. The woman’s armor was pristine and clean. Everything was in order. Even her dark blue cape was clean and maybe even ironed to perfection.
While the man’s armor was all tattered and scuffed up. His blood red cape was worn and torn in a few places. Half of his chest armor was missing, showing off half of his chest with more scars and hair
covering it.
I stepped closer to Helios. “Who are you?” I asked.
The woman had given a polite bow of her head to Helios and Selene before turning her attention to me. “I am Athena. Goddess of Wisdom and the master of war.” She said her voice is soft, but powerful at the
same time.
Before I could greet her, the man scoffed as he drew a curved sword from his waist and pointed it at Athena. “Master of war? Dear sister, I believe you think too highly of yourself. I am the God of war.” He said, his voice rivaling that of thunder clapping.
I frown. ‘God of war?” “Does that mean you are Ares, the Greek god of war?” I asked. Within the blink of an eye, he is in front of me, holding his sword up to my neck. “Careful, mortal. Address me with respect, or I will gut you here and now.” He demanded.
I growled at him. I am sick and tired of people demanding respect from me, yet I receive none at all. I grabbed his blade with my bare hand. I shoved it downward before I headbutted him. He actually groaned in pain while I wiped the blood off my hand. “Respect is earned, not a given right. You should show respect

if you wish to receive it.” I said, before I stepped on his sword and grabbed him by the collar and pulled his
face to mine.
“Besides, I think it is only fair that I demand my questions answered, since you two have this whole great
war weighing on my shoulders.” I said. I heard laughter and looked to see that Hermes was doubled over.
Oh, this was awesome. I wish I could have recorded it with a crystal.” He said as he laughed.
Athena had moved forward and nodded her head in approval. “You are the perfect choice for the mother royal. We should have had alpha blood mixed with the royal’s centuries ago.” She said. “You did try that, and they ended up doing a lovers‘ suicide and causing the great war between werewolves and vampires.” Selene said with a hint of anger.
Athena shrugged her shoulders. “It was not my fault that the mother royal back then could not handle the pressure.” She said. Selene answered with a growl. Ares finally pulled himself away from my grip and stood to his full height. “You have more fire in your soul, little princess. I think this is going to be entertaining.” He said as he put his sword away.
”
I glared at him. “I am not here for entertainment. I want to know why there is so much riding on the mother
royal.” I said. Athena and Ares looked at one another. “So much rides on the shoulders of the mother royal,
because of how much our blessings go.” Athena said. “Though it is up to the mother royal how far to take
them.” Ares added.
I glared at them both. “You mean you are not going to tell me anything useful?” I asked. They both shook
their heads. “Your spirit’s flame has been lit, but your body and mind are not yet one.” Ares said. “My
brother is correct. You need to become stronger and think of who or what you will be fighting for.” Athena
said.
“My spirit’s flame?” I asked. “When you decide that you are no longer going to take shit from anyone. You lit your flame the moment you attacked me.” Ares said he almost sounded like a proud father after his kid
nailed their first hit.
“Hold out your hands, Young Mother Royal.” Athena said, her voice now overlapping itself like she just turned on her god voice.
I held out my hands with the palms facing up. Athena grabbed my right wrist, while Ares grabbed my left
one.
“Time is not on your side, Young Mother Royal; you must train hard and fast. Your abilities will grow with you, and your fears will be your downfall.” Athena said. I could feel an icy burn on my wrist where she held it, while a hot burn was coming from Ares‘ hand.
“If you are feeling disheartened, that you are somehow not enough, then set your heart ablaze. Never let your flame go out under pressure, or darkness will swallow you whole.” Ares said, his grip tightening just a
bit.
“Look ahead for the flow of time, it waits for no one, it won’t patiently stand by and wait for your heartaches to heal. For every transgression must serve as a lesson, your light is only something that you

can ignite. Never let it die out.” Both Athena and Ares said in unison.

I felt the burn crawling up my arms. I bit my cheek so hard that I tasted blood. I still dropped to my knees
as the burning sensation hit my heart. My vision went white for what felt like forever. When it came back to
normal, I looked up and noticed the shocked faces of the five gods before me.
I gasped, trying to catch my breath. I wondered what made them so shocked. I didn’t have to really ask. As
I followed their line of sight and saw that I had gripped Athena and Ares‘ wrists. There was ice blue blood
dripping from Athena’s wrist, while black blood dripped from Ares.
