The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 193

Chapter 193

Liam nodded. “Yeah. I stole it from Grandpa.

Hayley flashed him a big thumbs up. “You really are an amazing grandson.”

Liam stared at her but didn’t reply.

Hayley chuckled. “Come on. Have a drink. What else have you stolen from him?”

“Nothing.”

“Tell me. I won’t go tattling to your grandpa.”

Liam met her bright, curious eyes. Then you really can’t tell anyone.”

“I swear.” Hayley raised her hand, as if she were making the world’s most serios oath.

Liam lowered his head and started counting them off one by one. “I stole his rank pins, his fountain pen, his dress shoes, his uniform, the rod he used to hit me with…”

Hayley froze.

So this supposedly honest guy had been quite the troublemaker when he was young!

No wonder the moment Samuel lost his cookies, he assumed Liam was the thief.

They slept well that night.

The next morning, Hayley was up early.

Outside, Liam had already picked up everyone she asked for and loaded them into the vehicle. Samuel even came in person to

see her off.

“Come visit whenever you can.”

“Sure!” Hayley waved at Samuel and climbed into the car.

Liam handed her a bag of crystal cores; 1,021 in total. “Give me 100 doses first. You have that many on hand?”

“I do.”

“Great. Have Derek bring them back.”

**Alright.”

Hayley took the crystal cores and counted everything on the spot.

“Twenty-one of these are the ones I owe you.”

“Okay.” Hayley had no issue with that and left with the rest.

Time to head back to her own base!

As their truck drove away from Base K1, she spotted a familiar figure standing at the gate. A man in a gray shirt was waiting in line for post-quarantine entry.

Hayley was stunned.

Wasn’t that the guy she saw yesterday? He was actually still in line?

“Can we go ahead of you? My kid isn’t feeling well.”

“Sure, you can go first.”

The man in the gray shirt gave up his spot again and moved to the back. Not long after he got pushed even further back.

“Sorry, let us go first!”

“Yeah, we really want to get inside, too.”

“You keep giving your spot away. One more won’t hurt!”

“Alright, alright.”

Hayley watched through the rearview mirror as this guy got shoved out of the line again and again, yet he still kept lining up and letting others through.

She shook her head, but didn’t stop.

Their vehicle soon arrived at Haylight Base.

Upon arrival, she went to grab 100 doses of evolution serum for Derek.

The evolution serum was quick to make, and she diluted it a bit anyway. Producing 100 doses took fewer than 50 crystal cores.

Hayley “reluctantly” earned 950 crystal cores in profit.

Still, even diluted, her evolution serum was the best in this entire era.
