Every other room was completely empty.
This was nothing like that disaster of a trip she took with Nadia, where everything went wrong, and she got tricked the entire
way.
This was what a reliable operation should look like!
Every detail was predicted, every step was mapped out. They even got it down to how many minutes each part should take and exactly when the mission would end.
Hayley’s original plan was to finish everything in under 30 minutes, because the metal gate outside could hold for no more than
that.
But at this rate, assuming nothing went wrong, ten minutes would be enough.
She had Leonard take care of the zombies in Room 103 and then open every door using the passcodes, while she dashed from room to room collecting supplies..
Every machine, every piece of furniture, and even the trash cans from the research institute ended up in her inventory. Hayley packed everything.
Leonard originally thought this mission would take hours.
He had mentally prepared to haul equipment up and down the stairs. But by the time he finished opening all the first-floor rooms, he turned around and realized Hayley had already emptied everything behind him
He watched as Hayley casually finished clearing yet another room and gave him a lazy look.
“Now that I’ve awakened my inventory-variant gift, I’ll handle the hauling from now on,” she said.
There was no point hiding her abilities from Leonard anymore.
Last time with Griffin, she got burned precisely because she kept it secret. Leonard let his guard down, and she even lost a batch of supplies that he had worked hard to gather.
For someone she fully trusted, Hayley decided she would tell him the truth. It would save them trouble on every scavenging trip from now on.
When Leonard heard her openly reveal her inventory gift, he was struck with shock and gratitude.
He was shocked because Hayley wasn’t just a Gifted. She was a double-Gifted!
+15 Bonus
She had both water element and inventory-variant gifts
Hayley was freaking a double-Gifted!
Leonard realized that his boss wasn’t just strong. No, she was ridiculously strong.
He also felt gratitude toward her because she trusted him enough to reveal such a private ability. It meant complete trust
Leonard felt a warm rush in his chest. He had to protect this trust, no matter what.
After the shock passed, he said firmly, “Don’t worry, Boss. I’ll keep it secret. I promise.”
“You’d better. You’re my guy. Who else would you tell? Now, hurry up and open the upstairs rooms.”
