The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 200

Chapter 200

Leonard watched Hayley raises hand and sweep whole rooms of equipment into her inventory like it was nothing He nodded seriously. “I’m on it!*

He rushed off to open the remaining doors for her and grouped anything he could find into neat piles to make it easier for Hayley to collect everything in one go.

Hayley hadn’t expected revealing her inventory-variant gift to actually raise Leonard’s loyalty even more.

People really were different.

Some are born loyal. Treat them well, and you’ll get full loyalty back.

Others are just ungrateful wolves, no matter how much you feed them.

While she was scooping up equipment, Hayley suddenly thought of Griffin.

That jerk! He’d better pray he never fell into her hands.

In under ten minutes, with Leonard helping smoothly at her side, Hayley finished emptying the entire research building-

“Boss, everything’s packed!” Leonard reported.

“Good. We’re leaving.”

Just as they prepared to make their perfect exit, Hayley suddenly heard someone shouting.

“Help us!”

“Please help us!”

A beam of flashlight shone from the opposite building. From the sixth floor, Hayley saw a group of people crowded against the large glass windows, waving desperately for her attention.

Huge letters painted in red, spelling “SOS” and “HELP”, were plastered across the window. The scientists in white lab coats pried the window open and waved their arms as hard as they could.

Their cries had already drawn a horde of zombies below.

From every direction, the zombies were swarming in.

Hayley suddenly spotted a very familiar face among the survivors.

“Griffin!”

In the crowd, a man in a black trench coat stood behind the others, waving enthusiastically at her with a huge grin.

Even through the glass, Hayley felt her chest tighten in irritation.

How dare that jerk smile at a time like this!

Just wait.

“You all hold him down! If you tie him up, I’ll save you!” she shouted across the gap.

Instantly, every person in that room turned and looked at Griffin.

Thirty seconds later, Hayley saw Griffin pressed against the window, hands tied behind his back.

A muscular guy shouted toward her, “Hey, we caught him! He can’t run! Now tell us how you’re saving us! There are zombies all over this building!”

Hayley could see that very clearly.

Both inside and outside, their building was overflowing with zombies. Even the Hoors above and below had zombies pressed against the glass.

Charging in from the bottom floor and climbing to the sixth was impossible. There were way too many.

Which meant…

Hayley suddenly remembered the zipline she bought yesterday. A cheap purchase, but absolutely priceless now.

She pulled the zipline kit from her inventory, handed one end to Leonard to secure on their side, and looked across at the sixth- floor window opposite them.
