Chapter 203

Bam! Crash!

A zombie smashed through the round glass panel in the heavy wooden door.

Glass exploded everywhere as its head shoved through the opening.

Its forehead was shredded and dripping, with tiny shards of glass embedded deep in its skin. However, it didn’t feel a thing. All it felt was wild, uncontrollable excitement

Hayley swung Griffin onto her back and twisted aside, dodging the spray of sharp glass.

The moment she moved, the door lost the pressure she had been applying The zombie forde outside surged all at once, forcing the door wide open.

A small, skinny zombie squeezed halfway through the gap.

Hayley drew her saber and slashed. A gleam of steel flickered once, and every zombie pushing through that gap was cut clean in

half.

Boom!

She kicked the cabinet hard, slamming the door closed again.

But the zombie with its head through the broken window was now clawing its way in at full speed.

The sharp edges of the broken glass scraped down its skull, neck, and chest, peeling away chunks of flesh as it forced its way forward. Thick, dark red pus dripped down the wooden frame like ink.

It stretched its mouth widely, its blackened teeth chattering and trembling with excitement, its cloudy, gray eyes locked onto the people inside.

Even a horror-movie ghost would look mild compared to this thing.

Hayley swung her saber again, slicing through the lunging zombie. Right then, she felt the entire room tremble.

“You should know that office walls are mostly drywall,” Griffin said behind her. 1

The moment his voice fell, every wall around them cracked and split apart with a loud boom.

The walls beside the door collapsed inward, and countless zombies burst straight through.

Hayley took one look at the endless mass of zombies pouring through the holes and immediately gave up trying to hold the useless door.

She turned toward the window. The last two people crossing the zipline were only two-thirds of the way across.

“Hurry up!”

With Griffin strapped to her back, Hayley brought her saber up again, ready to fight.

The two people on the line were scrambling, but the one in front slipped.

Her body dropped suddenly. The safety harness caught her, but she dangled awkwardly in midair, her legs shaking over a sea of zombies swarming below.

Weak from hunger and exhaustion, she froze halfway and couldn’t move at all.

Across the dozen-feet gap, Leonard saw the zombies breaking into Hayley’s room as well as the dangling woman.

Panic surged through him, and he jumped onto the zipline.

He had no haruess or protection. He grabbed the rope with both hands and let his weight drop, pulling the line down into a sharper angle.

The two harnessed survivors slid toward him instantly.

Bam!
