Chapter 208

Rat-tat-tat!

Rat-tat-tat!

Boom!

Hayley controlled the entire battlefield alone from the top of the armored truck.

Inside the vehicle, the rescued survivors watched through the windows as wave after wave of zombies threw themselves at the truck but never managed to break through.

The nonstop explosions and gunfire outside made their scalps prickle.

If the truck malfunctioned for even a second, or if Hayley’s firepower weakened at all, the zombre tide would swallow them whole.

Every zombie in the area had poured out.

The survivors slowly turned to stare at the woman on the roof.

She was too damn strong.

Boom!

Several minutes later, the armored truck rushed back onto the main road that led out of the city. After all that chaos, the number of zombies on the road finally began to drop.

Most of the city zombies were now just chasing after the vehicle in a massive crowd.

Hayley stayed kneeling on the roof.

Seeing the huge swarm spilling out of the city behind them, she fired one last rocket.

Boom!

A thick cloud of dust rose behind them. The explosion wiped out several hundred zombies in one shot.

Leonard kept the accelerator floored. The farther they got, the more zombies fell behind, eventually losing their target and scattering.

When only a few dozen remained nearby, Hayley put the RPG away and finished the rest with her AK.

Just then, another zombie appeared ahead. It was the stylish one with a baseball cap, a torn T-shirt, and shredded jeans.

It sensed the familiar scent and stubbornly stood in the middle of the road, waiting for them.

Its body was even more twisted than before, with one knee bent the wrong way and its hip joint tilted. It limped forward in a crooked charge.

Bang!

The armored truck rammed it again and sent it flying.

They had officially left the city behind.

The armored truck drove straight into the residential area of Haylight Base.

The doors swung open, and Megan and the others climbed out first.

They stared in shock at the small settlement in front of them, with vegetable fields and livestock.

It was a functioning, organized community.

“This is my base. If you want, you can join us,” Hayley said as she stepped down.

This was the first time she got a good look at the group. Five men, three women.

Only one of them was gifted; it was the strength-enhanced guy who had pulled her inside earlier and begged for help.

But clearly, his enhancement wasn’t strong. Probably due to months of starvation, his physical boost grew slowly.

The rest were regular humans.
