The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 235

Chapter 235

Liam nodded. “Alright. Starting now, you’re on guard duty. If you see zombies, you deal with them. You’re not allowed to move any supplies.”

Ted panicked when he heard that.

Fight zombies?

No way!

He was always in the middle of the team, protected by everyone. He never fought on the front line.

But this time, Wallace snapped just to save himself. “Move it!”

No matter how unwilling he was, Ted still had to go stand watch by the stairwell.

He was an inventory-variant Gifted. Normally, he was treated like treasure. Now, he was reduced to killing zombies.

After Wallace’s group was dealt with, Hayley went back to hauling supplies.

With their inventory-variant Gifted taken out, the rest of the group didn’t have to worry about Wallace’s team stealing anything

anymore.

And from that moment on, wherever Hayley went, Wallace’s people stayed as far away as possible.

They didn’t want her to notice them again.

This made things very convenient for Hayley.

She took nine out of ten items she grabbed, stuffing huge amounts of clothes into her inventory.

Only the pieces she truly didn’t want were left behind for Liam.

She really followed what Liam had said. He got what she left behind.

They worked nonstop for three or four hours, took a short break to eat, then went right back to work.

By around 5 p.m., the massive five-floor mall was completely emptied.

Hayley took most of the high-end women’s clothing from the fourth and fifth floors.

On top of that, when they split the goods later, Liam would still give her another share. She would also get hals of Shield Base s

cut.

This trip had barely cost her any effort, but the profit was huge.

Just as they loaded the last shipment from the fifth floor and prepared to leave, heavy snow began to fall

Thick flakes poured down, turning the world outside a dull gray. In no time, the snow piled up as high as the wheels.

Dark clouds swallowed the afternoon light, and it looked like night had come early

There was no way they could go back.

After watching the snow for half a minute, Liam decided, “We’ll stay here for the night and leave after it stops”

People from Base K1 had no objections and immediately started setting things up.

Hayley stayed calm and sent Leonard to check the area for safety.

People from Shield Base did the same.

+15 Bonus

They chose the fifth floor.

Being higher made it easter to watch the main road through the windows. If anything happened, they would notice right away

Also, the lower floors were freezing. A mall with no heat in winter could kill you with cold alone.
