Chapter 240
Bang!
A massive explosion ripped through the snowy night.
The entire mall shuddered beneath Hayley’s feet.
Hayley and Thomas rushed to the window at the same time.
Outside, under the orange glow of the falling snow, a perfectly organized convoy burst out from the residential blocks.
Rocket launchers and submachine guns stuck out from the windows, firing nonstop into the darkness.
Behind them came a tsunami of zombies.
Hordes poured out of the apartment buildings, roaring as they chased the speeding vehicles through the snow.
“Ms. Reid!”
“Boss!”
Liam’s and Leonard’s voices rang out together.
Hayley waved from the hallway. “I’m here.”
The moment Liam saw she was safe, he let out a relieved sigh. “Stay here. Don’t move. We’re heading down.”
With that, he took his people and rushed downstairs.
Leonard hurried toward Hayley. “Boss.”
After meeting up with Leonard, Hayley stared at the desperate convoy outside. “We’re going down, too.”
She led Leonard and Thomas through the emergency stairs from the restroom area.
On the way, she quickly introduced them to each other.
With no time for small talk, Leonard and Thomas only nodded and kept moving.
Soon, they reached the stairs between the first and second floors.
Hayley stopped there and went straight to the large window.
retreat
From this angle, she could clearly see the convoy’s route. If anything went wrong, they could attack or retreat easily.
And if things really went bad, they could jump straight out, cross the road, and disappear into the unfinished mall across the street with countless escape paths.
The moment Hayley stood there, she had already mapped out every possible exit in her head.
This spot was perfect.
She watched the convoy close in through the storm, the markings on the vehicles slowly coming into view.
“Boss, that’s the International Riot Control Unit,” Leonard said, frowning at the insignia
“The what?”
“They operate outside the old military system and only get deployed in major international conflicts,” Leonard said simply” They’re very strong.”
Boom!

A Focket was fired from the lead vehicle.
A man in black tactical gear popped up through the roof hatch, shouldered a launcher, and fired backward.
The blast tore through the snow and sent the nearest zombies flying into the air like broken dolls.
The convoy bought itself a moment of breathing room and floored it. Then the last vehicle skidded on the icy road, lost control, and slammed into a utility pole
The zombie horde, delayed only by a heartbeat, surged forward again.
Hayley was wondering how they would handle it when the trapped vehicle exploded
A pillar of fire shot into the sky.
Three figures in black combat suits burst out of the flames and sprinted after the moving convoy.
The cars ahead never slowed, but people in the vehicle tossed ropes out.
The three men caught them, tied them around their waists, and let themselves be dragged through the snow, guns blazing nonstop into the sea of zombies behind them.
