Chapter 243

Hayley didn’t bother arguing with the people from Shield Base. She just waved anthem casually.

“If you’ve got a problem, come say it to my face.”

No one moved.

Every person in Shield Base knew it. From Wallace to the lowest grunt, more than half of them had already been beaten by

Hayley.

The few who hadn’t weren’t stupid enough to provoke her now.

No one dared to go against Hayley.

She had backing and strength, and she was ruthless enough to prove it.

Who would dare mess with her?

That was when she heard a quiet laugh from across the fire.

She looked up and met Milo’s sharp, tiger-like eyes.

The corner of his mouth lifted slightly, then the smile vanished as fast as it appeared. He turned his attention back to the pot.

When the food was ready, his people moved quickly to serve it out.

They hadn’t eaten anything like this in a long time.

Even prepackaged food from before the collapse tasted like a feast now.

Inside the meal packs were roast chicken with gravy, barbecue pulled pork platter, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, grilled stea strips, pork chops with sauerkraut, chicken curry, and barbecue ribs.

It was a full-on banquet.

Everyone ate in big mouthfuls. Even after they scraped the pot clean, they were still not satisfied.

It was way too good.

“Is there more?” Milo asked.

Liam looked at Hayley.

“Double.”

“Deal.”

Hayley tossed over a few more packs and added two large bricks of instant noodles

They refilled the pot with water, boiled the noodles, dumped the food back in, and ate again until they were completely full.

“Where are you based now?” Liam asked once they finished eating

“East side. We built Firebrand Base out there,” Milo replied

“Firebrand Base. I think I picked up a signal from you once,” Liam said after thinking about it

“Yeah. Then we lost power. After that, even the radio was useless”

“How many people do you have in your base?”

“A little over three thousand You?”

“Base Ki is over five thousand now.”

Milo’s eyes sharpened. “You have enough food?”

“We’re getting by for now,” Liam said carefully.

“My location is awful. Supplies are miserable, “Milo said after a pause “You wanna work together?”

“For what?”

“To recapture a city.” Milo’s eyes burned bright.

“I scouted Aecraton today. Most of the supplies are still inside the city. If we take just one, we’ll never worry about food again. Plus, zombies don’t defend. They only care about attacking. If we keep hiding, we’ll die eventually. The more we kill, the better our chances.”

Milo stared straight at Liam, his eyes sharp as knives.

Back in the previous life, Milo had wanted to storm the cities, too.

Unfortunately, he was the only one in the entire eastern region crazy enough to try it.

The truth was simple. Firebrand Base was desperate. They had no resources to sit and wait. Killing their way forward was the only option.
