Chapter 242
This was the very Milo who ranked first among the ten toughest people!
He was the leader of Firebrand Base, a man who was said to have reduced his own base down to nothing but the last few
survivors.
When he heard Liam’s voice, the man in the mask seached up and pulled off the black face cover.
A tan, sun-darkened face appeared.
Milo’s face was lean, with a hint of foreign blood. His features were sharp and rugged, his brows heavy, his nose high and straight, and his eyes a clear amber color. Everything about him looked hard and unbreakable.
Paired with his close-cropped hair that stood like steel bristles, he gave off the air of a predator ready to strike just by standing
there
“Yeah, been a while,” Milo said, reaching out to Liam.
Liam clasped his hand.
“Captain Caldwell and Milo have worked missions together before,” Leonard whispered to Hayley.
“Milo is one of our people who’s been living in Froydland. He grew up abroad, and when one of our units was sent there, he joined us. Because he had spent so many years overseas, he knew the place better than anyone, and he led the team through several major fights.
“His achievements were remarkable, and he was promoted to commander soon after. The international campaign wrapped up eight months ago, and that was when they were called back.
“He’s…different from us.”
Of course, Milo was different. He did things in Hayley’s past life that Liam and the others would never do.
They were from the same military background, but went down completely opposite paths.
One protected, while the other destroyed.
Sensing the looks on him, Milo glanced past Liam and noticed three people standing in the shadows behind him.
One of them was a woman.
Milo looked away coldly. “Do you have food?”
“I’m out,” Liam said. “But I can get some for you.”
“Okay.”
Liam walked toward Hayley. “Ms. Reid, you still have food, right?”
“Why? You wanna give it to them?”
“Yes. I’ll pay you back.”
Hayley raised an eyebrow. “Alright ”
She pretended to take things out of her bag, but really pulled several meal packs and a bag of pasta straight from her inventory
With fresh supplies available, she barely ate this kind of processed food anymore. She had bought plenty when she first started, and now, it was perfect for trading favors
“This stuff’s rare now. Double price.”
“Deal”
Liam took the food and returned to Milo.
Ten minutes later, everyone gathered on the first floor.
The building was surrounded by zombies, and no one dared stay on the upper levels now.
Dawn was only a few hours away. The plan was to survive until morning and then break out.
A fire was lit. A big pot of pasta bubbled as all the meal packs Hayley gave were dumped in together.
Milo and his people sat on the right side, quiet and waiting.
Hayley sat across from them with Base K1. Shield Base stayed off to the side by themselves.
That was when Shield Base finally noticed Thomas wasn’t sitting with them.
“Thomas, what are you doing over there? Our team stays here!” Ted snapped.
