The Endgame Chronicles (by Hugh White) novel Chapter 246

Liam stood there, watchiifig Mayley with her artus crossed. She looked calm and confident, as if she owned the world

Her words kept echoing in his head

The next three years would be nonstop natural disasters

They wouldn’t get a break.

If they didn’t strike now, they would lose the chance forever.

If anyone else had said it, he wouldn’t have believed a word of it.

But it was Hayley,

Liam’s heart began to pound.

“But you’re talking about recapturing a city. Do you really have enough supplies? Milo doesn’t have anything at all.”

Hayley nodded.

Her small base already had steady production, and her people were still working every day. She could afford to support hers while fighting zombies outside.

“Liam, fight with me. I can keep your whole team fed.”

After all, any city they took would belong to her.

The rewards alone would be massive.

Spending some food to hire their strength was nothing. Rather, it was pure profit for her.

Even mercenaries cost more than that.

Liam still frowned.

After a long silence, he said, “Can you slow down for a moment? This is a big decision. Attacking cities affects every base out there. Let me go back, send out radio messages, and hear what people think first, okay?”

Hayley thought about it.

“Fair enough. Tell them this, I’ll feed whoever helps me take cities, and I’ll sell them my evolution serum for sen crystal cores per dose.”

Liam stared at her “You really are set on recapturing those cities, huh?”

Hayley stepped closer.

“If you don’t believe me, just wait and see. This winter will last until mid April. And once spring hits, it will turn into a drought.”

With that, she turned and walked away

Liam stood there, staring at her back, unable to calm himself

The winter would last until mid April, and drought would hit right after

It was already late January

When Hayley returned, she went straight to Milo and started discussing the attack plan, the timing, and how to split the loot

They made a deal

During the mission, Hayley would provide food and cover every cost for Milo’s team.

Any supplies they seized would be split 50-50.`

The condition was that any city they captured would belong to Hayley.

“Splitting supplies is fine,” Milo said, “but you taking the city itself? No way.”

Hayley thought for a moment, then said, “Then let’s form a league. Our bases stay independent. We’ll stay out of each other’s business, but we’ll be united in attack. Once we get inside the cities, we can live together. And I’ll give allies special privileges.”

She pulled out a bag of pasta.

“You can trade one crystal core with me for one pound of pasta. I can sell this to your base and keep you fed.”

Milo’s eyes lit up, but he still hesitated.

It still sounded like he would just be working for her.

He would be providing muscle and getting half the supplies, while she took the main prize.

It wasn’t a great deal.

At that moment, Hayley took out a small vial of liquid.

“What about this?”
